Wal-Mart brings guns back

Not sure why but I have started reading at cnn.com, the writing is above average.
The link text on the home page was probably intentional but it cracked me up anyway.

"To combat slumping sales, Wal-Mart brings back guns"
I can just see some fat woman with a slutty back tatoo, riding a scooter, with a $150.00 shotgun in the basket.  A story that will probably drive the Wal-Mart hating yankees crazy, but I am glad, Wal-Mart has cheap ammo.
How did that Warren Zevon song go?

My Dear John Letter

Thank you Mr. Cagle, you waivered there for a little bit, but you came around.

Subject: Immigration in Georgia
April 26, 2011
Dear John,
Thank you for taking the time to contact me and share you views on strengthening Georgia’s immigration laws.  It is an honor to serve as your Lieutenant Governor, and I always appreciate it when citizens like you contact me on the issues that matter to them most.
I share your frustration with the Federal Government’s inability to secure our nation’s borders.  Because of these failures, Georgia, like other states, has to find ways to address the problems brought on by illegal immigration.  We must use every reasonable tool at our disposal to minimize the negative impacts of illegal immigration on our state.
Here in Georgia, we have already made great progress with the passage of the Georgia security and Immigration Compliance Act in 2006.  I recently joined with Speaker Ralston to create the Special Joint Committee on Immigration Reform and charged them with taking an in-depth look at ways to confront this problem and offer concrete solutions to improve the situation and I believe they succeeded.
As you may have heard, the General Assembly recently passed House Bill 87, a historic anti-illegal immigration bill.  The final version of the bill includes the use of E-Verify and will most certainly help Georgia address this serious problem.  The bill now awaits Governor Deal’s signature and he has indicated that he does plan to sign it.
As a former State Senator and now as Lt. Governor, I have a proven record of supporting legislation that addresses the illegal immigration crisis and certainly support continuing to look for stricter controls in Georgia.  I hope that our actions against this problem will help the citizens of our state and I feel we have set an example for the rest of the nation to follow.
Again thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on this matter.  As Lieutenant Governor, I remain committed to strengthening Georgia’s immigration laws and look forward to working with you to continue this effort.

Sincerely,
Casey Cagle,
Lt. Governor of Georgia

American Thinker: America's Vichy Regime?

An article that I enjoyed.
I think the comparisons are fair, the liberal left has disrespect for the common voter, they think that they need to be (in order) led, inched, misled, or taxed into acceptance of liberal policies. Honesty is not a factor, its an ends-justifies-means attitude. Many people including myself believe that the president is anti-American. I realize that that is a dreaded label, but if the shoe fits.

Junior's Grill to close Thursday

In my three years in Techwood dorm this grill fed fed me at least once a day sometimes twice.
Dad enjoyed it during his years at Tech, the kid who is there now never seemed interested.
I loved it.
Bon voyage Tommy.

Understanding Engineers

Forwarded to me by Jerry.
The kid will be a full blooded civil engineer in a year, so #4 belongs to him.

Understanding Engineers #1
Two engineering students were biking across a university campus when one said, "Where did you get such a great bike?" The second engineer replied, "Well, I was walking along yesterday, minding my own business, when a beautiful woman rode up on this bike, threw it to the ground, took off all her clothes and said, "Take what you want." The first engineer nodded approvingly and said, "Good choice: The clothes probably wouldn't have fit you anyway."
Understanding Engineers #2
To the optimist, the glass is half-full. To the pessimist, the glass is half-empty. To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.
Understanding Engineers #3
A priest, an ophthalmologist, and an engineer were golfing one morning behind a particularly slow group of golfers. The engineer fumed, "What's with those guys? We must have been waiting for fifteen minutes!" The doctor chimed in, "I don't know, but I've never seen such inept golf!" The priest said, "Here comes the greens keeper. Let's have a word with him." He said, "Hello, George. What's wrong with that group ahead of us? They're rather slow, aren't they?" The greens keeper replied, "Oh, yes. That's a group of blind firemen. They lost their sight saving our clubhouse from a fire last year, so we let them play for free anytime." The group fell silent for a moment. Then the priest said, "That's so sad. I think I'll say a special prayer for them." The ophthalmologist added, "Good idea. And maybe I could examine them to see if there's anything I can do for them." They were silent for a moment. Then the engineer said, "Why can't they play at night?"
Understanding Engineers #4
What is the difference between mechanical engineers and civil engineers? Mechanical engineers build weapons. Civil engineers build targets.
Understanding Engineers #5
The graduate with a science degree asks, "Why does it work?" The graduate with an engineering degree asks, "How does it work?" The graduate with an accounting degree asks, "How much will it cost?" The graduate with an arts degree asks, "Do you want fries with that?"
Understanding Engineers #6
Three engineering students were gathered together discussing who must have designed the human body. One said, "It was a mechanical engineer. Just look at all the joints." Another said, "No, it was an electrical engineer. The nervous system has many thousands of electrical connections." The last one said, "No, actually it had to have been a civil engineer. Who else would run a toxic waste pipeline through a recreational area?"
Understanding Engineers #7
Normal people believe that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Engineers believe that if it ain't broke, it doesn't have enough features yet.
Understanding Engineers #8
An engineer was crossing a road one day, when a frog called out to him and said, "If you kiss me, I'll turn into a beautiful princess." He bent over, picked up the frog, and put it in his pocket. The frog spoke up again and said, "If you kiss me, I'll turn back into a beautiful princess and stay with you for one week." The engineer took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it and returned it to the pocket. The frog then cried out, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a princess, I'll stay with you for one week and do anything you want." Again, the engineer took the frog out, smiled at it and put it back into his pocket. Finally, the frog asked, "What is the matter? I've told you I'm a beautiful princess and that I'll stay with you for one week and do anything you want. Why won't you kiss me?" The engineer said, "Look, I'm a busy engineer. I don't have time for a girlfriend. But a talking frog?!! Now that's cool!"

When I was in 9th grade I had a similar experience with a social studies teacher. During a discussion about communism the teacher stated that the ideology was conservative.  To this the class behaved like the sheeple they were, and I have to admit the teacher was intimidating.
Being all of fourteen, I don't know where the knowledge came from or what made me so sure.  I disagreed with the teacher, only one person, a good friend, supported me.  The teacher went so far as to take a vote, intended to show me that what the majority beleives must be true.
That night I went to the library and looked it up, confirming that I was right and the teacher was wrong.
The next day I brought the subject up in class, showed the documentation.  Guess what the teacher did? He refused to accept my rebuttal, even had another vote, which resulted the same way.
Whether the man was just stupid or trying to instill his concept of ideal government, I do not know.  What I did learn is that my instincts were right, and the majority could be wrong.  Reeaffirmed was my already present belief that some teachers have no interest in knowledge
This article reminds me of that revelation.

Two UGA Recruits Arrested

I can think of better ways to endear yourself to your future teamates and coaches.
About the only thing worse would be to mess with their girlfriends or wives.
Seems that recently the players over at Athens have been caught more than their fair share.
Would never claim that one school is better than another regarding kids behavior, like parenting it's a crap shoot, just do your best and react in a responsible way.

Assholes Finish First

Brother Scott told me that he wanted his Christmas gift of books to the family to be about laughs. In the book Assholes Finish First, author Tucker Max had little trouble accomplishing that.
Published in October 2010, the book debuted number 3 on the New York Times Best Seller list.
A book of anecdotal stories based on the adventures of the author with various women.
Basically Mr. Tucker Max considers himself the smartest person in every room he enters and that gives him licence to be rude, insulting and inconsiderate to all. On top of that he makes sport of screwing every different kind of woman he sets his aim on.
Its the type of behaviour I envied when I was in college, but as an adult it is repulsive.
It made me laugh, but in the end it is the diary of a self indulgent prick.
Do not buy it.

That's Great

Greed got the man in trouble with the law.
Arrogance got the man convicted of obstruction.
Money got the man into a position to procure the best help needed to avoid jail.

That's Bad

Taking a student home for sex?
This makes what Mary Kay Letourneau did pale by comparison.
The bond amount seems pretty low considering that what he did was at least reckless endangerment.
This is the kind of crap that spoils the reputation of homsexuals.
Its not fair, but when harm is done everybody suffers.

Young People More Practical Than Thought

The Daily Beast reports on an American Red Cross study that found 60% of the post 9-11 generation find torture acceptable, to enemies of state.
The report jumps to the conclusion that young people have less empathy than they should. Blaming television shows such as 24.
Perhaps there is a different explanation and that could be...
The young ones are more practically evolved than the reporters.

Why 60 Percent of Young People Support Torture

I Used to Like Sandwiches

Now I have to be careful of the contents before I take a bite.
For myself, I have found that you have to give politicians a couple of terms before their real identity shows. Take for instance Lindsey Graham who at his start was portrayed as a progressive Republican. I should have recoiled at the adoration of the press, but instead bought in and took a big bite out of the shit sandwich. Now that tastes pretty bad, the press liked him because he was one of them, and only a Republican because he wanted to be elected.

He's Getting Close

To doing time in the big house.
About a week ago in my post about the twenty-five coolest athletes of all-time, that Allen Iverson would end up in jail. This shows that he might be at the tipping point.
CNN reports that former NBA player berated an Atlanta policeman on Wednesday March 30. The car was pulled over for not signaling a lane change and then the Lamborghini was found to have a registration that lapsed in 2009. Iverson who was the passenger became irate and said to the officer...
"I'm the (expletive) passenger."
Now I am betting that the expletive was the word 'fucking'. What do you think? He then went on the say...
"Police don't have anything else (expletive) to do except (expletive) with me. Do you know who I am?"
Pretty sure that he said that f word again. And the answer to his question should have been an immediate, "yeah I know who you are, the most selfish player in NBA history". He was also heard to say...

"Take the vehicle, I have 10 more,"
Later the obnoxious turd apologized the officer, claiming that he was upset about his car. Which means that while he was ranting and raving about not caring about the car, he really lying and worried about the car.
The lying thing should be useful in prison. I wonder if bail bondsmen will use the title on the Lamborghini as collateral when the lawyers expect to be paid.
GQ is looking pretty smart with top 25 pick.

But That's Where It Happened

I guess that I can see the point, and the NAACP isn't out there protesting, but jeez we are talking about marker that stands for an event that crushed the spirit of their oppressors. The NAACP representative said:
“It seems to be honoring something that reminds us of some tragic occurrences that happened to our people at the time. The whole war itself centered around the slave issue,” said R.L. White, president of the NAACP’s Atlanta branch. “We accept that it’s history but would like to see it done somewhere else than the heart of the civil rights historic district. It’s kind of tragic that the state is choosing that location.”
Sherman picked the location Mr. White, get over it.
At best the marker will be defaced by one of your bretheren, at worst stolen for the copper.

Introduction

It turns out that the Bezion Dunner is, well was, a real person.
Mr. Dunner had given away more than 2,000,000 pounds, to the poor, before his unexpected death.
Apparently he did not give away so much he did not have enough to buy cocaine or support his 9 children.
Here is a link to a UK web site covering his demise.

Subject: (Yesterday was my birthday, you forgot again!!!).
Good Morning,
I am Mrs. B T, an employee of a safe-deposit/security company in The Bahamas. I am in charge of Files and Records. Over the years I have discovered in record a particular file/safe box which has remained dormant and unclaimed for so many years. Due to past experience in a situation such as these, I decided to engage the services of a private investigator with the full details of the customer but was informed after his findings/investigation that the customer was a spy for the Chinese Government and has been confirmed dead.

This information I do not want to pass unto my employers for they will take advantage, close the customer's file and take possession of his consignment while I will be informed that the customer has come to close his account during my leave period. I really do not know who to trust as my past experiences with my company has made me not to trust any one or talk about our company which is one of her standard procedures for securities.
I decided to contact you even as I don't know you before, but it is better for me Security-wise. I am not a bad woman but will loose yet again another opportunity immediately to my employers and their personal bank accounts if I inform them. I know with a trusted external body to front as the kin to the late customer, it can channeled it to our own advantage/interest. I know a very good attorney in the area of inheritance that I can hire, I have already discussed with him and he has assured me 100% it can be accomplished with the right information and details. I have all the information we need but I will need your assistance for these to be successful.

I had secretly verified the content of the box. This action is a grave violation of the policy of this security company; however I discovered that there is over Thirty Million Euros in cash as stated in records, some documents and a sealed envelop, which I suspect contains the pin numbers of some Swiss accounts. Please use my home email to respond back and use the word (HAPPY BIRTH DAY) as the Subject for security reasons. My home E-mail: (angela14@one.co.il) Please write back. I am sorry for the subject (Yesterday was my birthday, you forgot again!!!)). I had to use that as security code so that I will not attract attention. I learnt that from my company as part of communicating without drawing attention.
