Dear Mr. xxxxxx

Thank you for contacting me regarding tax legislation. I appreciate you taking the time to share your views with me. The opinions and concerns of my fellow Georgians are an essential component of my decision making process as a Member of Congress.

I understand your views about tax legislation and your strong support for comprehensive tax reform. I agree, drastic changes are indeed warranted for our current tax code.  As you know, Congressman Rob Woodall introduced H.R. 25, the Fair Tax Act of 2011.  This bill would repeal the income tax, employment tax, estate and gift tax, as well as re-designate the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 as the Internal Revenue Code of 2011.  It would impose a national sales tax on the use or consumption in the United States of taxable property or services. The Fair Tax Act of 2011 would also grant states the primary authority for the collection of sales tax revenues and the remittance of such revenues to the treasury. Currently, H.R. 25, the Fair Tax Act of 2011 is pending within the House Committee on Ways and Means, of which I am not a member. However, please rest assured I will keep your views in mind as the House continues with its legislative agenda during the 112th Congress.
As I mentioned, your input is vitally important to me.  I hope you will continue to give me the benefit of your opinion in the future.  Please be assured, I will keep your views in mind as the full House considers various issues in the 112th Congress.  Furthermore, I encourage you to visit my website at http://davidscott.house.gov where you can view the latest news and updates about pertinent issues and legislation important to you.  You may also sign up for my electronic newsletter and receive periodic updates on my activities as your representative in Washington. As always, my staff and I are here to serve you.  Please feel free to contact us if we ever can be of further assistance to you or to share your concerns.
Sincerely,
David Scott
Member of Congress

Kennedy and Roosevelt - The Uneasy Alliance

This book sat in my shelves for almost 20 years, a remnant of a past relationship. No big deal and no emotional attachment, I was waiting for inspiration and decided to read what I thought was political science fodder.
A pleasant surprise, this book written by Michael R. Beschloss is an extension of a senior thesis written while at Williams College. Published in 1980, is only 276 pages long with extensive detailed footnotes and references.
The book lightly details the upbringing and prior family histories. becoming strong on the goal following each man's completion of schooling at Harvard. FDR attempting to gain foothold via his cousin Teddy's presidency and Joe Sr. moving above the Irish machine politics of Boston.
The two first crossed paths while Joe was running a Boston shipyard and Franklin as an Navy under-secretary, in that business conflict, FDR steam rolled the businessman by using the US Navy to take possession ships built for Argentina not yet paid for.
Following the WWI, Joe Sr. was successful in business both in as a stock market investor with Charles Schwab and later as a film company executive. At the same time FDR was basically failing at every business venture he joined, a man poor business acumen.
After the start of the depression, FDR currently involved politically in New York employed Kennedy to act as both pitch man to the Irish Catholics, Wall Street leaders, and William Randolph Hearst.
Following election Kennedy was employed as a business specialist for the New Deal government. These skills were used to rives both maritime law and form the SEC as first chairman. Both were generally viewed as successes.
In the late 30's Joe Sr. was pressing for a more important post, and after holding at arm's length appointed Kennedy to by Ambassador the Kings James Court. This as we all know ended badly, Kennedy strongly opposed US entry into WWII supporting the approach of Chamberlain. After assorted public skirmishes Kennedy resigned after having been made obsolete by usurpation.
By the end of WWII, Kennedy lost his oldest son, almost another and a son-in-law. Roosevelt was dead.
I enjoyed the book a great deal and felt that it was very well written. Largely written from the Kennedy's point of view, I think largely because Roosevelt was an enigma who excelled at manipulating people and worked under the shroud of a cadre of New Deal Socialists.
Recommended read for history lovers.

Daddy Home???

The boss wondered why one of his most valued employees was absent but had not phoned in sick. So he dialed the employee's home phone number and was greeted with a child's whisper.
' Hello? ' 'Is your daddy home?'
'Yes, he's out in the garden,' whispered the small voice.
'May I talk with him?'
The child whispered, ' No .'
So the boss asked, 'Well, is your Mommy there?'
' Yes, she's out in the garden too.'
The boss asked; 'May I talk with her?'
Again the small voice whispered, ' No .'
Hoping there was somebody with whom he could leave a message, the boss asked, 'Is anybody else there?'
' Yes ,' whispered the child, 'a policeman... '
Wondering what a cop would be doing at his employee's home, the boss asked, 'May I speak with the policeman?'
' No, he's busy,' whispered the child.
'Busy doing what?'
"Talking to Daddy and Mommy and the police dogmen."
Growing more worried as he heard a loud noise in the background, the boss asked, 'What is that noise?'
'It's a helicopter. ' answered the whispering voice.
'What is going on there?' demanded the boss, now truly apprehensive. '
'The search team just landed a helicopter. '
'A search team?' said the boss. 'What are they searching for?'
Still whispering, the young voice replied with a muffled giggle... ' ME.'

Unusual Dog Fight

A gift from DGJ..............

The Israelis and Arabs realized that, if they continued fighting, they would someday end up destroying the whole world.

So they decided to settle their dispute with an ancient practice: a duel of two, like David and Goliath.

This "duel" would be a dog fight. The negotiators agreed each side would take 5 years to develop the best fighting dog they could.

The dog that won the fight would earn its people the right to rule the disputed areas. The losing side would have to lay down its arms for good.

The Arabs found the biggest, meanest Dobermans and Rottweiler’s in the world.

They bred them together and then crossed their offspring with the meanest Siberian wolves.

They selected only the biggest, strongest puppy of each litter, fed it the best food.

They used steroids and trainers in their quest for the perfect killing machine.

After the 5 years were up, they had a dog that needed steel prison bars on its cage. Only expert trainers could handle this incredibly nasty and ferocious beast.

When the day of the big dog-fight finally arrived, the Israelis showed up with a very strange-looking animal, a Dachshund that was 10 feet long!

Everyone at the dogfight arena felt sorry for the Israelis. No one there seriously thought this weird, odd-looking animal stood any chance against the growling beast over in the Arab camp.

All the bookies took one look and predicted that the Arab dog would win in less than a minute.

As the cages were opened, the Dachshund slowly waddled toward the center of the ring.

The Arab dog leaped from its cage and charged the giant wiener-dog.

As he got to within an inch of the Israeli dog, the Dachshund opened its jaws and swallowed the Arab beast whole in one bite.

There was nothing left but a small puff of fur from the Arab killer dog's tail floating to the ground.

The stunned crowd of international observers, bookies and media personnel let out a collective gasp of disbelief and surprise.

The Arabs approached the Israelis, muttering and shaking their heads in disbelief.

"We do not understand," said their leader, "Our top scientists and breeders worked for 5 long years with the meanest, biggest Dobermans, Rottweiler’s and Siberian wolves, and they developed an incredible killing machine of a dog!"

The Israelis replied. "Well, for 5 years, we have had a team of Jewish plastic surgeons from Boca Raton working to make an alligator look like a Dachshund."

YOU AS NEXT OF KIN TO MY CLIENT

Hey Simon, thanks for the offer, but I'll decline, smells like bs.
My father has a chant he repeats when he smells a lie.
   It may be true,
   for all,
   I know,
   but,
It sounds like bullshit to me!

And the comment at the end about leakage, would that be anything like the anal leakage that comes from eating those potato chips fried in Olestra?

Dear Friend,
I am pleased to get across to you for a very urgent and profitable business proposal. I got your e-mail address in Internet while browsing and I decided to contact you to request for your assistance in this urgent matter, requiring trust and confidentiality. I am Mr. Simon Kuka, an Attorney to Mr. Thomas Stone.
On June 6, 1999, an American Oil Consultant/contractor with Petroleum Corporation, Mr. Thomas Stone, made a numbered time fixed deposit for twelve calendar months, Valued at the sum of US$12,000,000.00 (Twelve Million United State Dollars) in a bank here.
The bank of my client, Thomas Stone sent a routine notification to his address but got no response. After a month, they sent a reminder and finally discovered from his contract employers, the Petroleum Corporation that Mr. Thomas Stone died in the plane crash of October 31, 1999, (an Egyptian Boeing 767 Flight 990) with other passengers on board as you can confirm it yourself via the website below.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/1999/11/01/iran/main49778.shtml
Most astonishing of this discovery was that all records bear no next of kin, which means that there is no member of Mr. Thomas Stone's family that know about this deposit. In view of this, no member of his family will ever come forward to claim this money. To aviod the bank to transfer the said sum of Twelve Million United State Dollars ($12,000,000.00) as unclaimed funds to the government treasury account, the above stated funds most be claimed immediately by somebody standing in as late Mr. Thomas Stone Next of Kin. This revelation is only known to me because I was his personal Attorney/Financial Advisor before he died. I am seeking your collaboration to act as Next of Kin to late Mr.Thomas Stone to claim the funds and move them into useful investments.
We shall split the cash between ourself upon the confirmation of the money into your account. I am ready to offer you 35% of the total fund and 60% for me while 5% will be set aside for any expenses that might occur during the transaction. Please note that by the virtue of my position as his Attorney/Financial Advisor, I will provide you with relevant information for the successful claim and transfer of this funds in the account that will be provided by you.
I have come to you for assistance because the law does not permit me as the Attorney to stand as Next of Kin. Be rest assured that this project involve no risk and upon the receipt of your acceptance mail, I will like you to provide me with the following details.
(1) Your Valid Direct phone Number.

Then I shall furnish you with due process of concluding this transaction without any delay.
Please discard this message if you are not interested. One Passionate appeal I will make to you is not to discuss this matter with anybody, if you have any reason to reject this offer, please destroy this message as any leakage of this information will be too bad for me.
Thanks for your anticipated Understanding and remain blessed.
Yours sincerely,
Simon Kuka.

MegaVote: GA 13th, 7/5/2011

So the Senators voted on the appointment streamlining act, it passed by a margin of 60%.  This is a bill that gives the President more power, furthering his desire to ram progressive policies down our throats with little to no resistance from balancing branches of government.  Weren't the czars enough extra-executive license?  Let's see, if a Federal law doesn't comport with his philosophy, he instructs the ruling department to ignore it, if a state erects legislation that is contrary he has DOJ fight it in Federal court, if Congress asserts subpoenas for information he ignores it.  Senators want to to give this man more discretion, what are they, fucking idiots?  To their credit, both of our Georgia Senators voted against.  I will be very surprised if this passes the House.
Petraeus earned the right to be a slam dunk. The problem with this musical chairs thing is Paneta moving to DOD, the Congress likes him, so he an easy installation, but he is an agent of destruction to every department he touches.  Like the 90's, if Obama gets re-elected, there will be an exodus from the military.
Why the Senate is going to debate a resolution authorize limited use of the U.S. military in Libya is beyond me, the President has already made clear that he is going to ignore Congressional legislation on this one.  The resolution will likely be a rubber stamp approval. The Republican Senators should abstain en-masse.
