He's A NUT

As Barney Fife used to say on "The Andy Griffith Show".

http://www.tagsrwc.com/trickytimers/wavs/Barney/nut2.wav

Minister Louis Farrakhan has foolish notion that the whole world is out to destroy is President.
"Do you think they're wicked enough to be plotting our brother's assassination as we speak?"
"I believe they want a Muslim to kill President Obama,"
Strong words from that man that probably arranged for the murder of Malcom X.

Obama assassinated? Don't rule it out, rants Farrakhan

Dear Small business owner,  I do not own a business.  The supposed small business owners are all working for the same company, mine, about half of which are citizens of Mexico.  The citizenship thing is a dead ringer for this email being bullshit.

Hereby you are informed that your Income Tax Return Appeal id#0839938 has been DECLINED. I have made no appeals of any sort.   If you consider that the IRS did not properly examine you case due to a misunderstanding of the case details, be ready to submit additional information. With the IRS I have no complaints, only fear, they are the hammer that any government needs to collect what it is owed. You can download the rejection details and re-submit your appeal using the following link Online Tax Appeal.  There is a link here, that I stupidly attempted to activate, it started loading a site with the name PollyPeach before the company content filters halted it.

This Sounds Like the Politicians WE Have

"If private profits are to be legitimized, private fortunes made honorable, these great forces which play upon the modern field, both individually and collectively, be accommodated to a common purpose."
Woodrow Wilson

An articulate message that says the proceeds of capitalism must be spent on the needs of the common. Like many well intentioned utopian beliefs, this message ignores the reality that motivation to attain "private fortunes" is removed when the fortunes are no longer allowed to be private. People stop taking risks when there is no reward.

That Sounds About Right

"We contend that for a nation to try and tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle."
Winston Churchill

If any of our politicians agree with this, there is scant evidence of it.

Judge rules Muslims have a right to assault people who offend them

This should get your blood boiling. A judge and a lawyer that successfully justified an assault with Islamic faith. The assailant must have oblivious to the Constitution because at one point he claimed that dressing up as a "Zombie Mohammad" was against the law.
Next the atheists should march as "Moronic Martins".
Just yesterday I spent a few minutes watching an erudite young man from Missouri explain how Sharia law is something that Muslims are not forcing on American society.

US Judge rules Muslims have a right to assault people who offend them - HUMAN EVENTS

Know Your Rights

Am I a citizen?
Reminds me of a Dr. Seuss book, written by P.D. Eastman.

Our government has designed a web site intended to be useful for individuals who are unsure if they would pass E-Verify inspection.
A sub-page called "Know You Rights", within which is the statement..
Additionally, a positive Self Check result should not be a condition of membership into any group or organization, and is not to be required for receipt of any benefit, service, or good from a Federal, state or local agency or a private party.

With which I take issue, if my hunting club decides that all of its members have to be US citizens, which I believe is a requirement for owning a firearm in the United States, we as private members damn well will apply any rule we want for admittance.

Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act
http://capwiz.com/congressorg/issues/votes/?votenum=22&chamber=S&congress=1122

Vote Agreed to (60-36, 4 Not Voting)

The Senate gave final approval to the agreement to extend the Social Security payroll tax rate cut, which was reduced from 6.2 percent to 4.2 percent last year, through the end of 2012. The bill also extends certain unemployment benefits and Medicare physician payment rates through the end of the year. The president is expected to sign the bill into law.
Sen. Saxby Chambliss voted NO
Sen. Johnny Isakson voted NO
Both of my guys voted the way I would hope. It is hard to beleive that given a closer situation Saxby wouldn't have been on the bandwagon.  One the gang of six, eager to show their fervent desire to prove they are the great concilliators.  No, the  Republicans from the conservative states had their flanks covered on this little tax game.  Democats are ready to demonize Republicans for cutting benefits, for destroying the fictional trust fund for old folks, all the while doing their best to make the underfund a tenuous fiscal construct.  Why not you could ask, why not undercut the tax rates for regular taxpayers, it is our intent to get them on our side by making them tax flow positive and passing the cost to those that have been blessed by good income fortune?

Recent House Votes:

Protecting Investment in Oil Shale the Next Generation of Environmental, Energy, and Resource Security Act
http://capwiz.com/congressorg/issues/votes/?votenum=71&chamber=H&congress=1122
Vote Passed (237-187, 10 Not Voting)

The House passed the first part of the surface transportation authorization bill, which has been divided into three parts. This part deals with energy and would use oil and gas revenue to fund transportation projects.
Rep. David Scott voted NO
A bill to have taxes from energy based industries fund capital expentitures whose usage of which  is directly related.  How does me guy vote?  No, he votes no on a budget his Democrat crones in the Senate wil not pass.  He votes no on income designation aimed at capital growth, e.g. building projects. His reason?  Look to where he really want the money to be spent.  It hardly matters anyway, Reid is squashing everything the House Republicans send his way, unless of course Obamy wants it.

Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act

Vote Passed (293-132, 8 Not Voting)

The House passed this agreement to extend the Social Security payroll tax rate cut, which was reduced from 6.2 percent to 4.2 percent last year, through the end of 2012. The bill also extends certain unemployment benefits and Medicare physician payment rates through the end of the year. The Senate passed the bill a short time later, clearing it for the president's signature.
Rep. David Scott voted YES

I started on it above, this election year taxation gamesmanship.  The politicians trotted this out as a tax cut, when all it was a continuation of a policy already in place.  I say , I you vote to underfund Social Security you should lose all rights to playing the evil Repulicans trying to get to SSC check card.  Duplicitous bastards.
On the other hand, I have to remember my core beleif that a goverment with less cash is a government that spends less.

Hold It Right There

You see a neighbors house being burgled. A criminal is crawling out of a window. To emphasize the power at hand, you fire your pistol into the ground. The crook stays put and the police arrive as they should.
Thieving bastard in control carried off in the squad car.
Guess what happens next, congratulations, appreciation for serving community?
Nope, the police in Farmington New Hampshire arrested the neighbor as well.

Fox.com reports.

My employer, at one time had a plant in that town. It was the newest most up to date plant in the system.  The plant couldn't make money because they couldn't find talent.  Eventually the plant was closed after ten years of losses.  It looks like the town hired those folks that deep sixed the business.

If Dennis Flemming were my neighbor, and saved my posessions, I would be buying the man a vacation to someplace warm.

Hopefully the County Attorney will apply common sense and dismiss the charges.

Then Go Back To Mexico

A teacher looses here composure when is student is disruptive in class. The student repeated interrupts with the statement....
I am Mexican.
After repeated disruptions the teacher looses patience and retorts...
Then go back to Mexico.
Teacher gets suspended, child gets to keep going to school.

From the tales all of the teachers in my family give, I have little doubt that the child was baiting the teacher.  From the description, the child was unable to say anything but the same thing over and over again, presumably under the pretext of not understanding English.  But when the desired response of frustration is expressed, that English was understood perfectly well.

The Nation’s First Tech-Savvy President

I heard it first a couple of months ago and wrote a note to myself to take exception. So, yesterday I found the note and decided to do a little Internet searching. The media's sycophantic adoration for this urbane President is well known, but here surpassed in scope by its ignorance of the capabilities of former Presidents. Here are some excerpts from the love stories lying out there on the web. The first article found was titled
DAILY INSIGHT: How the nation’s first tech-savvy President made history at Memphis City Schools
Within which, I could find no supporting evidence of prowess, perhaps a hint with...
But the real test for the new network came toward the end of the school year. President Barack Obama was once again using technology to inspire the country. In the spring of 2011, he urged schools across the country to submit a video telling the country why they deserved to have him as their 2011 Race to the Top Commencement Speaker. Thousands of schools applied. The list was narrowed to six, then three, then one. Booker T. Washington High School (BTW), a Memphis City School, had been chosen! The eyes of the entire nation would be on Memphis.
No, this was a story that was more about the improvement of a Memphis school's computer system.  The President's contribution was to ask for citizen's video applications.  That is the equivalent of asking for a phone call.  Have no doubt that the videos were screened, as they should be, and that the evaluation process refined to the final selection.  No technological skill required.

The next article that I found was titled...

Barack Obama: Our First Tech-Savvy, Multi-Tasking President?
Subtitled, and this is rich.....

Does brain specialization predict presidential elections?
The author, Mack Hicks, is a PhD in the field of Digital Pandemic.  Digital Pandemic sounds like one of the doctorates that you find advertisments for the school of in the back of comic books.  It could be real but it sounds like bullshit to to me.
The article blathers on about right and left brain proclivities, while couching an obvious preference  for the later. Eventually he gets to his point....
Democratic presidents are often products of legal and academic professions and tend to come from the intellectually elite class; a review of Republican presidents, dating back a half- century, on the other hand, reveals a general (Eisenhower), an All-American football player and coach (Ford), an actor (Reagan), a businessman-pilot (Bush senior) and another businessman-pilot and owner of a baseball team (George W. Bush).
Notice how he avoids Republican Presidents whose backgrounds do not comport with his definition.  For example, Lincoln, Coolidge, Taft and Hoover.  He does mention Lincoln later in the article.  I found other articles on the web by this Hicks fellow and pretty much all express love for the liberal lifestyle.   Then Mack adds...
Is this why they found their way to the political center? Al Gore and Jimmy Carter seemed more comfortable with left-brain strategies. They both got caught up in detail. Carter personally scheduled the White House tennis courts and neither of them could convince the public his "lust" was real.

President Carter went to Georgia Tech with hopes of becoming an engineer; he then transferred to the Naval Academy.  Both are what I would term as right sided institutions.
In the end, I have no complaint with President Obama.  The descriptions that are beinf applied are the fabrication of an adoring press.  Perhaps that is germinated by the actions of the Presidents press people, but that is their job.  He, President Obama, has shown me no more technical savvy than that of an intelligent 12 year old.  That is not meant as an insult, most adults in this day and age fit into that category.
Finally I found a site that had keyed into the same reaction I felt, this was titled....
Top 10 Most Techno-Savvy US Presidents
  1. John Fitzgerald Kennedy: predicted the man on the moon by 1970 and was correct
  2. Dwight D. Eisenhower: authorized the creation of NASA.
  3. Franklin Delano Roosevelt: the first president to appear on television.
  4. Harry S. Truman: ordering the use of atomic bombs.
  5. Warren G. Harding: the first President to make an official statement over the radio airwaves, and the first to ride to his presidential inauguration in a car.
  6. Theodore Roosevelt: first to ride in an airplane, first to be submerged in a submarine, first to own a car, and the first to have a telephone in his home.
  7. Rutherford B. Hayes: the first president to have a telephone.
  8. Benjamin Harrison: the first president to have electric lights installed in the White House.
  9. Andrew Jackson: the first President to ride on a train while in office.
  10. Millard Fillmore:  the first president to have running water and a stove in the White House.
The point I hope to make is that all Presidents are intelligent men, no matter how they are portrayed in the press.  George W. Bush was a military fighter pilot, constantly ridculed for lacking intelligence. Do you think it takes more technological ability to fly a jet or watch YouTube videos? As Presidents these men often have the unique opportunity to employ emerging technologies.

If You Are Interested

This is the kind of buiness I am in.
Big heavy stuff.

Crafty Little Guys

Rolling up the fence south of Tuscon.  I have no doubt that a determined man can get through anything another man can build, but cripes these guys have obviously developed a process that has worked before.
Politicians speak of using smart technology in the aim of broadening the reach of security without overburdening the limited staff of border guards.  How smart is this?
  • The panels could have been welded in place.
  • The panels could have had contact alarms, just like the type a person might put in there house to keep folks like this out.
  • Border guards could be driving up and down the road next to the fence.
  • Motion sensors could be in place, focued between the uprights.
  • Video cameras could be in place for remote observation.
No, this fence is for show, if they could, the Democrats would put a remote control opening device on the south side of damned thing.

MegaVote: GA 13th, 2/13/2012

Comments in italic bluuue.......

Congress.org (congress.org) presents:  MEGAVOTE February 13, 2012

Recent Congressional Votes -
* Senate: FAA Air Transportation Modernization and Safety Improvement Act
* House: Budget and Accounting Transparency Act
* House: Expedited Line-Item Veto and Rescissions Act of 2011
* House: STOCK Act

Upcoming Congressional Bills -
* Senate: Surface transportation authorization
* House: Surface transportation authorization

Recent Senate Votes:

FAA Air Transportation Modernization and Safety Improvement Act
Vote Agreed to (75-20, 5 Not Voting)
The Senate gave final approval to this conference report authorizing $15.9 billion per year through the 2015 fiscal year for the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA has been operating under a series of short-term extensions since the 2008 fiscal year. The president is expected to sign the measure.
Sen. Saxby Chambliss voted YES
Sen. Johnny Isakson voted YES

Stuff for everybody, the Georgia Senators get spending for Hartsfield, one of the biggest two airports in the country.  The President gets money for the TSA union.

Recent House Votes:

Budget and Accounting Transparency Act
Vote Passed (245-180, 8 Not Voting)
This House bill would incorporate the costs of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac into the federal budget, change how the government accounts for loan programs, and require federal agencies to post their budget information on their websites. The Senate is unlikely to take up the bill.
Rep. David Scott voted NO
I have to agree with David Scott's vote on  this one> I suspect we have different reasons though.  My opposition is on the grounds that bills like this mean nothing at all.  Politicians WILL avoid transparency when the the situations dictate that.  It is true for virtually all of them.  If this was a Democratic sponsored bill, you could bet the bank the David Scott would be on it like white on rice. A waste of time to even bother reading, legislation with false teeth.
Expedited Line-Item Veto and Rescissions Act of 2011
Vote Passed (254-173, 6 Not Voting)
The House passed this bill to give the president a line-item veto and rescission authority over discretionary spending bills. The bill would give Congress three days to vote to accept or reject the presidents rescissions. The White House supports the bill, but the Senate is not expected to take it up.
Rep. David Scott voted NO
Sort of like the above Transparency bill, this is a political ritual, that is set up in a manner so as to never come to life.  Republicans say they want it, the President for sure wants it, but none of this crap will ever get through the Democratic controlled Senate.  Another bullshit waste of time.

STOCK Act
Vote Passed (417-2, 14 Not Voting)
The House passed an amended version of this Senate bill that would strengthen rules prohibiting lawmakers, Capitol Hill staff and some executive branch officials from using confidential information to buy or sell stocks. The Senate now will either accept the modified bill or request a conference committee.
Rep. David Scott voted YES
More of the same old crap. Useless bills that are little more than a mis-statement of intention to be "law abiding". There are already ample SEC rules for enforcement.  Problem is that when issues come to like the politicians hold sway over the enforcement divisions.  Nothing ever happens.

Upcoming Votes:

Surface transportation authorization - S.1813
The Senate is scheduled to work on their two-year, $109 billion bill to fund transportation projects.
Bridge safety.

Surface transportation authorization - H.R.7
Meanwhile, the House is scheduled to work on their four and a half year, $260 billion transportation bill.
Upgrade and refurbish existing systems. Stop building roads into undeveloped regions as a manner of  repayment to campaign donors.

Truth, lies and Afghanistan - February 2012 - Armed Forces Journal - Military Strategy, Global Defense Strategy

Excellent, though legally limited account of the real situation in Afghanistan. Presidents have political interest in military incursions having the smallest footprint possible. Who doubts that Bush overemphasized gains and who else doubts that Obama has extrapolated that practice while intentionally weakening the military presence? I believed it was correct to go into the country after 911, Afghanistan was both militarily and politically controlled by the Taliban. Afghanistan officially resisted the capture of OBL. For that they were were put out of power. What has happened since is problem. When politicians dominate the decisions of warfare with inferior enemies the contest become something like a game of checkers, a childlike reaction to the last move, problem being that the politicians are reacting to move that are on the domestic board, not the real contested situation.

Politicians contributions to the process should be:
1) agree on the issue
2) agree on the goal, declaring war of necessary
3) allow the military design a comprehensive plan to accomplish the goal
4) provide for the logistical support of the military
5) get the fuck out of the way, understanding that military plans will have to be revised because the objective of the opponent is to foil and this sometimes succeeds.

What we have here is a set of failures:
1) lack of defined goal
2) failures to logistically support
3) keeping out of the way, interference

The politicians, currently led by Obama, are at the core of blame for all of these, they know the facts and are being dishonest in portraying the situation as stable. An admission that the situation is screwed up would force an open decision to re-engage or turn tail and run.  What they want is to turn tail and be praised for success.

What we have here is political cowardice and obfuscation.

* House: STOCK Act

Recent Senate Votes:

STOCK Act
http://capwiz.com/congressorg/issues/votes/?votenum=14&chamber=S&congress=1122
Vote Passed (96-3, 1 Not Voting)
This Senate bill would strengthen rules prohibiting lawmakers, Capitol Hill staff and some executive branch officials from using confidential information to buy or sell stocks. The House is expected to take up the bill this week.
I said it before; this is a bill that all about showmanship.  Everybody, virtually votes for it, yet the dishonest unethical persons included will not be dissuaded from self aggrandizement.
Sen. Saxby Chambliss voted YES
Sen. Johnny Isakson voted YES
Guys the problem here is that only dumb asses believe your bullshit  "I'm going to be honest"   facade. Just drop it already, it is an embarrassing admission that you have members that are dishonest.

Recent House Votes:

Fiscal Responsibility and Retirement Security Act
http://capwiz.com/congressorg/issues/votes/?votenum=18&chamber=H&congress=1122
Vote Passed (267-159, 6 Not Voting)
The House voted to repeal the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) program, a provision in the 2010 health care law that was intended to provide long-term care but was suspended after the Department of Health and Human Services determined it could not be solvent for 75 years as required by the law. The bill's future in the Senate is unclear.
Knocking the slats out of ObamaCare.   With little doubt the Senate will table.  David, explain to me, like I was from College Park, why predicted insolvency is acceptable?
Rep. David Scott voted NO

Pro-Growth Budgeting Act of 2011
http://capwiz.com/congressorg/issues/votes/?votenum=30&chamber=H&congress=1122
Vote Passed (242-179, 11 Not Voting)
This House measure would require the CBO to assess a bill's impact on long-term economic growth. The Senate is unlikely to take up the bill.
Rep. David Scott voted NO
Again, my representative votes against checking the facts. And, again, the Senate will table the legislation.

Baseline Reform Act of 2011
http://capwiz.com/congressorg/issues/votes/?votenum=32&chamber=H&congress=1122
Vote Passed (235-177, 20 Not Voting)
This House bill would stop the Congressional Budget Office from incorporating inflation increases into its spending projections. The Senate is unlikely to take up the bill.
Rep. David Scott voted NO
Lots of stuff here about the CBO, suspect that POTUS has been pressuring the outfit to cook the numbers.  Evidence is obvious in the recent unemployment figures.  There, the government proves that it sucks at developing jobs, then because people are too long in searching for a job, excludes those persons the official unemployed count.  I'll bet if those folks could be given benefits they would count.
Cut the crap David.

FAA Modernization and Reform Act
http://capwiz.com/congressorg/issues/votes/?votenum=33&chamber=H&congress=1122
Vote Passed (248-169, 15 Not Voting)
The House passed this conference report authorizing $15.9 billion per year through 2015 for the Federal Aviation Administration. The Senate is scheduled to take up the measure this week.
Rep. David Scott voted YES
A lot of his consitituents south of Atlanta depend on a vibrant Hartsfield Airport.  At least he is not total dolt.

Upcoming Votes:
FAA Modernization and Reform Act - H.R.658
The Senate is scheduled to take up the FAA authorization conference report.
Here is one that David Scott might actually be bothered WHEN Harry blocks it in the Senate.

Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21) Act - S.1813
The Senate may also take up a two-year, $109 billion highway bill.
Just once, I would like to see one of these highway bills be available only for aging bridge repair.  Problem is, many are used to cerate highways into undeveloped areas, perpetuating urban sprall.

Expedited Line-Item Veto and Rescissions Act of 2011 - H.R.3521
This House bill would give the president a line-item veto over discretionary spending bills.
How many variations of this thing are there?

STOCK Act - S.2038
The House is expected to take up this bill to curb stock trading by legislators and staff based on confidential information.

Here's Your Sign

What is wrong with this picture I took in northern Florida?

Aide

This past Christmas Eve was spent at my brother-in-law's house. The bride and I had a very good time, as he and his spouse are excellent hosts.
At the party was the son of a friend. This person was about 30 years old and for his entire work career, since college graduation, been an aide to Senatorial office. We discussed among many things, the personalities of the presidents he had met and to a greater degree the interaction between aides and elected officials. It was intriguing to get such a first hand account of the machination of Congress. To say the least my wife and I were impressed were the very qualities that surely helped him get the position.

This person suggested that amongst politicians there can be grouped into about three character types.
  • Salesmen
  • Consensus builders
  • Ideologues
He also suggested a different grouping that basically broke down governance into two styles.
  • Emotional and reactive
  • Policy adjustment
Naturally the emotional bent is easy understand and typically assigned to the likes of groups with single issue focus, amongst those can be the Tea Party, OWS, Pro-Life and Pro-Choice.  These we were told are dangerous issues with regard to primaries but not so much on the national scale. The mode of operation is to play to the group that can injure your chances and then in open election and move center wards for appeal to independent voters.

This young man suggested he was part of the 'Policy' class that concentrated on legislation as a matter of achievable adjustment.  Naturally it was his position that this was the more statesmanlike course of action.

The discussion stuck with me, so as I am here today, having what amounts to acknowledgment of reality and followed with complaint.  Because of 50+ years of Democratic Congressional control (30's-80's) there was initiated in the Federal government an inertial tilt towards Un-Constitutional expansion, usurpation of States rights. The examples are so numerous it would be silly to enumerate. That tilt was crated by the people voted into office and they acted within their perceived right.

The problem that I wish to talk about is the misguided preference for 'statesmanlike' policy corrections.  If new legislation is considered achievable only an adjustment to old because incremental steps are easiest to get approved, then it is by default tied to the faulty legislation. To place in an simple equation, if y = mx + b, where y is the output, m is the rate of change and b is point where the function crosses an axis. Policy people believe that adjustments to the equation are best handled by tweaking 'b', while any intuitive person knows that only changes the timing. The term 'm' is built by years of consistent political ideals such as the Democrats possessed after the start of the Great Depression.

For the last 30 years, the Republican party and the Democratic party have been trading places of control.  There has not been a consistent powerful force to impose a new 'm'.  I would argue that many elected Republicans are RINOs because of positioning required to be elected, and the Congressional opportunities have been squandered by Republicans who accept the current mode of operation, which is governmental expansion.  The practice of policy adjustment  ties us to what we know has failed and threatens to bankrupt us.
