In a gun control sense, this is much more effective, illegal possession is deterred by aggressive enforcement tactics. The President tells his detractors to get in the back of the bus and try to be happy about how much he is helping the country out of it's problems. Problems that often, at the minimum, are exacerbated by related government programs. Then if the issue is protection of rights enumerated in the founding documents, the governments encroachment is encouraged as best for the "common sense" approach to conflict.

Global Warming Nonsense
I am beginning to think of John Stossel as the thinking man's Geraldo Rivera. He came to his current station through major network media and has arrived at conclusions, at least in a public way, that common sense observations are better than hyperbole pinned to individual events.
Since most of the major media sources sources are not FOX affiliates, we conservatives have come to reject the mainstream news almost entirely as Liberal Hyperbole. The statements of victims, pictures of events are offered as scientific proof of how current events are horrifically worse than historical experience. When involved scientists offer conclusions based on statistics the words are drowned out by media associates that are paid to proffer opinions that are exciting. The truth that things are usual, no matter how insensitive, is boring.
To me it is amazing; the legs that this global warming issue has. Scientists who initiated the "hockey stick" data trend have been proven to have been dishonest. They, by email evidence, manipulated raw data in a manner to comport with a hypothesis of impending disaster.
As an Industrial Engineer, I have been trained in depth on the application of statistical derivation, while the global warming hypothesis may be true, but so far the evidence does not support that.
To apply my own form unsupported conclusion, the liberal media is screaming because it sells advertising, the government is co-opting the issue because it sees an opportunity to fit taxes into the transactions of anybody purchasing energy.
Anyway, I usually enjoy Mr. Stossel's commentary.

The Senate failed to reach the 60 votes required to end debate on the fiscal year 2014 Transportation-Housing and Urban Development Appropriations bill on August 1. Conservatives balked at the Senate Appropriations Committees inclusion of about $5.6 billion in spending more than current levels under the sequester. The $54 billion bill would be $2.3 billion more than the fiscal 2013 enacted level and $2.4 billion more than the Obama administrations request. Much of the additional spending in the Senate bill comes from in the form of roads funding. The Senate bill would provide $550 million for infrastructure project funds, known as TIGER grants, an increase of $51 million from the pre-sequester fiscal 2013 level. House appropriators provided no funds for the program. The bill also would create an account that would provide $500 million for repairing structurally deficient or functionally obsolete bridges and crucial highway corridors.

On July 31, the House voted to concur with Senate amendments to a bill that permanently sets federal student loan interest rates. The measure, approved 392-31, culminated weeks of negotiation to reach a bipartisan deal after interest rates doubled for many loans on July 1. The bill annually would link the rates charged on new student loans to the rate paid in June on 10-year Treasury notes. The terms would apply to all new federal student loans, except for low-interest Perkins loans made to needy students. The premium charged in addition to the 10-year base rate would include 2.05 percentage points for subsidized and unsubsidized portions of undergraduate loans, 3.6 points for graduate loans, and 4.6 points for PLUS loans made to graduate students and parents of undergraduates. Rates would be capped at 8.25 percent, 9.5 percent and 10.5 percent, respectively, for the three classes of loans. The market-based rate system is similar to a plan proposed by the White House in its fiscal 2014 budget, and President Obama is expected to sign it.

The bill would compel countries currently purchasing crude oil from Iran to reduce their combined purchases by a total of 1 million barrels per day within a year. Failure to comply would prompt a loss in those nations ability to obtain significant reduction sanction exemptions that let them continue to purchase Iranian oil. It also would expand the list of Iranian industries effectively blacklisted, further limit Irans access to overseas foreign currency reserves and impose additional shipping sanctions to limit Irans ability to engage in international commerce. Earlier in the week, Democratic and Republican sponsors of the bill brushed off pressure to delay the vote, saying that passage would send an important signal to Irans incoming president about the cost of continuing to advance a nuclear program.

Four Democrats voted for the measure, which was supported by all Republicans. The bill prohibits the Secretary of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service from enforcing penalties the 2010 law would levy on those who do not purchase health insurance when the law goes into full effect in 2014. The vote culminated what House leaders dubbed Stop Government Abuse Week.

When You're Gone
For a while crap can build up in your email inbox. In the e-world things do not have texture or scent. This, however, has all the indicators of stinking like shit. From the White House
The POTUS administration has created a situation that makes it preferable for institutions to divert cheap money into the stock markets rather than mortgage investment. Money is cheap because the Fed has been restraining the discount rate while new money is being printed at an historically disproportionately high rate. In effect our government is inflating the dollar while under reporting price inflation. I've never been able to time the stock market, it has bubbled up again and overdue to pop.
Back to topic, the above suggests the everybody is going to get the opportunity to purchase a home. Between the lines, that means poor people who cannot afford to own homes will be purchasing homes with government support, support that comes from taxes collected and money printed which undermines saving and investment by individuals.
Besides, don't these dumb bastards remember what happened in 2007-8, cheap money flowing into the housing market, cause inflated prices, a bubble popped and millions were suddenly up side down in loans because home values reached proper equilibrium with wages.
