Leftmost Nominee Ellison Defeated

Alan Dershowitz, defender for O. J. Simpson, seems to have found a voice that I enjoy listening to.

Ellison Was Defeated by His Own Actions Not by Any Smear

The Democrats managed to avoid a debacle in electing Tom Perez to lead the party.

Like the Republican voter base, the most vocal Democrats seem to be on the leading edge of liberal philosophy. While ALL politicians tend to support the inertia toward larger government, they also on both sides tend to coalesce at a generally unified center. The effect of this is that government tends to lean leftward and the greater population is polarized around a left of center Congress. As a result, few people are satisfied. In this polarization, the politicians willing to speak to the polarized bases have the potential to catch a populist wave of support. Trump did it, Sanders almost did it, Keith Ellison, by aligning with liberal Democratic dogma has tried and failed to ride it into leadership. The now Deputy had taken a position that was clearly racist, anti-Jew, anti-Israel and, frankly, anti-white. The Democrats have avoided unnecessary trouble in choosing a leader that that will not be a magnet for opponents shine light upon.

These things run cycles, at the moment, the only thing that has happened is that a Republican was elected President. Congress, though majority Republican, will be an anchor pulling the executive toward the left-center. Time will only tell if Trump can overwhelm the loose Congressional conspiracy.

Frankly I am glad that the Democrats chose a centrist as leader, it means that when the tide turns, the shift will not be tectonic.
