Not Cool John

Did Sarah Palin really deserve that?: Just the fact that Palin is being excluded from John McCain's funeral says mountains about the bad side of McCain.

During the 2008 primaries, and earlier in the 2000 primaries, I was skeptical of Senator John McCain's political foundation. He seemed to diverge from the Republicans in a manner that was designed to burnish his reputation as a maverick. After all, he was a Keating Five participant and he was a sponsor of the McCain-Feingold legislation that was intended to restrict campaign participation. When John McCain chose Sarah Palin as a running mate, I was encouraged. That was the only positive thing he did in that campaign, soon letting seep out his lack of support. The way that John McCain treated Sarah Palin was despicable and I have never forgiven him for it. For years after the humiliating election loss, which I do not think any Republican could have won, the McCain campaign was sending me requests to help  pay off the campaign debt. At that time I thought that Judas can pound sand, ten years later, he is.

All that grandstanding with Trump, shows what petty men both were.
Remember that McCain started that shit by cutting down voters who support Trump.

Should It Be Illegal for Prosecutors to 'Flip' Witnesses?

Been on vacation in Mystic Connecticut, visited family and enjoyed the cool breeze of Long Island Sound.
Since returning I've been watching some video about sovereign citizens, for the most part they are people who do not respect the right of any civil authority or law. Some police in those videos identify persons holding strict adherence to constitutional rights and U.S. Code as sovereign, when in fact it is the police who are acting as sovereigns. Police regularly ask and deceive citizens to yield constitutional rights, under the premise of public safety, and frankly as the quickest means to an end. Here Mr. Dershowitz describes how prosecutors act as sovereigns by ignoring U.S Code and offering benefits to witnesses. It happens every day and on many levels.

Should It Be Illegal for Prosecutors to 'Flip' Witnesses?: It is already illegal for a lawyer to offer a witness a valuable consideration for providing testimony -- if the lawyer is a defense attorney. If any defense attorney offers a witness an inducement to testify favorably to his client...

I am not suggesting that this practice change wholesale, only a fool would expect such a radical change. Sentence leveraging on witnesses is an integral part of convicting criminals. Leveraging should only be allowable when used in support of physical evidence and when directly tied by the primary criminal act . With the Mueller investigation into Trump, direct ties are absent, proof of a crime is absent, there is no evidence linking the President to even unethical behavior relating to the Russia collusion accusations. Yet we have prosecutor, by U.S. Code breaking the law, using crimes unrelated to the President as leverage to extract favorable testimony. There is a strong impulse on the investigation's part to suborn perjury by threatening incarceration.
People may hate this President, his combative nature is foreign to the political norms. The fact that people do not like the man is not reason enough to fabricate issues that might lead to calls for impeachment.
Very much enjoy the work of Mr. Dershowitz lately.

How's Socialism Doing in Venezuela?

A couple of years ago, heard two of my fraternity brothers talking about how the United States was now a socialist country and the right needs of get used to it. They America may have been half correct, it is hard to argue with the ravages the New Deal and the Great Society have foisted upon our people.

People who argue against capitalism decry it greed, a concept put to bed by Milton Friedman who made clear that greed exists in all forms of government.

Socialism, the little brother of Communism, sets up two classes, the ruling class and everybody else. Everybody else is basically treated equal, as serfs and all poor.

We do not see Sean Penn running his assholiness down to Venezuela anymore, do we?

ThEverybody else is made

Yes, They Do Have the Right

Hamas, Arab Spring, PLO, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Iran are countries and organizations that deny the right of Israel to exist. Their grandiose arguments ignore the fact that none have controlled the region as a government. The League of Nations sanctioned it, the United Nations endorsed it and the land has been defended successfully. Israel has the right and whatever political whining that foams from the mouths of racist UN representatives and their complicit media supporters determined to eradicate Jews.

It is an inconvenient truth that under international law, it's not illegal to win a territorial fight.  Media rhetoric pummels hearts and minds and rallies a false cause, and the United Nations depicts the people of Israel to be a pariah, a ...: It is an inconvenient truth that under international law, it's not illegal to win a territorial fight.
