Ossoff on Immigration

 I participate with NumbersUSA and have been known to send a few emails and faxes to my representative in Congress. As one would suspect the messages are generally pointing out perceived flaw with the course of government action.

Such is the case with John Ossoff, one of Georgia's relatively new Senators. Elected by a narrow margin that to me is suspect given that illegal vote harvesting, and outright ballot box stuffing has been proved with video evidence to have occurred during the last Georgia election.

Attached image is a screen shot of an email received in response to one of my assertions. He tells how is is the child of an immigrant, and that his great grandparents came through Ellis Island. Then is travels into the illogical connection to the position that person having entered the country illegally should have a pathway to citizenship. 

He seems to miss the the fact that is relatives entered the country legally.

It boils down to what he wants, there is no logical reason I can imagine, other than it is the position that the Democrats have taken, ignoring that MOST Georgians are against pathway to citizenship.

If aliens are given a pathway to citizenship, they will have been rewarded for breaking a law of the sovereign nation they invaded. Illegal immigrants don't deserve shit. They came north for wages and that is exactly what they have received. 

A result of the invasion has been the depression of wages for low income citizens which in turn fuels intransigent poverty. Other impacts include depression of home values in regions where aliens collect. Don't try to tell me that is not true, I live in one of these regions.

From the start this little howdy-do has weasel written all over him. 

A Lot of Meaningless Words

NumbersUSA does an excellent job generating opportunities to converse with our representatives in Congress. My representatives include two Republican Senators and a Democrat fills the seat in the House of Representatives. The Senators tend to favor increasing immigration when the chips are down and vote for restriction of immigration when expected effect is minimal. Basically they are full of shit. David Scott on the other hand is a standard Democrat who votes party line on everything relating to immigration. The following is a response to an email sent last week. A little long winded....

Immigration is a leading topic of debate for Americans across the country, including Georgians in my district. We have seen the topic of immigration increase tensions between political parties and dominate mass media.  As a nation, I sincerely hope that we can debate immigration with mutual respect and reach bipartisan solutions to achieve common sense reform.  I strongly believe that we can secure our borders without sacrificing our morals and the humane treatment of migrants, while still providing resources to border security initiatives.  
Please be aware, I do not support illegal immigration. I believe we must stop people from entering this country illegally by improving resources for border personnel and modernizing border security technology. To that end, I support legislation that increases the number of border patrol agents, improves our asylum procedures, and modernizes border technologies such as advanced cameras and high-powered radars. I also support using the National Guard and other military personnel, to help with border security.
Some Americans expressed concern about the impact of immigration on the environment. Please know that I am aware of the changing environmental factors that are damaging precious natural resources and harming Americans quality of life. Large issues such as water, air and land pollution, the depletion of the ozone layer, and the steady rising of average temperatures ravage the planet and are strongly correlated with dying species and the destruction of ecosystems.  For this reason, I am hopeful that progress will be made in the future to pass measures into law that ensure greater protection of the environment. Members from both sides of the aisle must come together to provide bipartisan and safe solutions to address immigration while considering the finite natural resources of our nation. As your elected official, please know I am dedicated to protecting life on earth whether it be our species who are at risk of endangerment, or citizens who hope for a better life.
As immigration continues to be a leading topic in our current political climate, please rest assured that I will continue to keep your views in mind throughout the 116th Congress.  I believe that our borders must be secure while remaining sensitive to the desire of immigrants to reside within the U.S.  Immigrants improve the U.S. economy, reduce labor shortages, and contribute to the diversity of our great nation. Mr. Scott has been saying for years that he supports  controlling immigration, including the border. I have yet to see a vote supporting the wall, or ANY viable alternative. My belief is that electronic surveillance of borders is only useful as a support system to a fortified wall.

From the NumbersUSA site, these are the representatives to Congress from Georgia that carry an "F-" rating. The Democrats are not a surprise, they are being consistent to their party platform. The Republicans however, serve hidden masters, Georgia having a large agricultural business component, has many large donators that want cheap labor. Republican candidates take the money, tell the voters what they want to hear and then vote against those promises.

As I have said before, my congressman is David Scott, representative of the 13th district in Georgia. Mr. Scott basically is a standard democrat, educated first at a, HBC, Florida A&M, and then in the Ivy League at the University of Pennsylvania for an MBA. Little David has been in in various elected positions since 1973, pretty close to 50 years. He represents only his Democrat constituents and has intentionally neglected town hall meetings, where the constituent opposition was strong. He sits safely in a gerrymandered district and spews nonsense answers to real questions and demands.

In your letter, you expressed support for H.R. 479. As you may know, H.R. 479 would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act and end the visa lottery program that awards 55,000 green cards to foreign citizens. Applications are selected through a random selection process that is administered by the Department of State. In 2018, nearly 14.7 million entries were submitted for the lottery. According to the Harvard Study “The Labor Economics Case for the Diversity Visa Lottery”, the benefits of the Diversity Visa Program include strengthening and diversifying the American labor workforce, while creating a better life for immigrants. Currently, H.R 479 is pending in the House Committee of the Judiciary. While I am not a member of this committee, please rest assured I will keep your views in mind should this bill come to the House floor for a vote.

You have to admire the chutzpah, suggesting that he is against illegal immigration while adding that what really need is an electric fence and better rules. An electronic fence may very well be appropriate in some sections, but the rules comment is what I really take issue with. There is an abundance of rules already on the books, they are not working. Adding new rules does not remove the attractiveness of opportunity for potential illegal aliens. The temptation needs to be removed, passing a national E-Verify requirement will constrict the attractiveness of opportunity, without considerable expense. For the people who are and plan to storm the border, rules don't do squat.

He Believes in Border Security

It has been a while, life is a busy thing. For fun, adding this response to an email I sent to my congressman regarding government shutdowns and border protection.

Dear Mr. Man:

 

Thank you for contacting me regarding the government shutdown under President Donald J. Trump. I appreciate your thoughts on this issue.   

In your letter, you expressed concern about the most recent, record breaking, 35-day government shutdown. The shutdown occurred due to a disagreement between Congress and the President on funding priorities including funding a wall on the southern border of the United States. To be clear, I am not supportive of government shutdowns nor do I support funding the government one or a few months at a time. In fact, for the last government shutdown I voted in favor of keeping the government open and in support of H.R. 2977, the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018. H.R. 2977 provided equal increases in funding for Defense and Non-Defense spending. Furthermore, I supported this bill because it will raise the budget caps for two years allowing Congress to fund the government with a longer-term bill for the rest of 2018.  

  On the topic of border security, please be aware, I do not support illegal immigration. First and foremost, I believe we must stop people from entering this country illegally by sealing off our borders. To that end, I support legislation that requires building an electronic fence and the use of advanced technology to help with surveillance. I also support increasing the number of border patrol agents, as well as further using the National Guard and other military personnel, to help with border security. However, we must have clearly defined rules that are easy to follow and keep people safe. 

 

In your letter your expressed explicit concerns of a government shutdown as it relates to President Trump’s demand for border wall funds. President Trump has demanded $5 billion to fund a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border. However, President Trump in the past promised the American people that Mexico will pay for the construction of the border wall, now he wants the Americans to pay $5 billion for its construction.  On December 19^th, 2018 the Senate passed a bipartisan Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund the government until February 8^th, 2019 which Speaker Paul Ryan said President Trump would not sign until $5 billion is included for the construction of the wall. Democrats have offered homeland security alternatives to increase border patrol agents, improved security technology, and more however, President Trump has opposed these bipartisan efforts empowering House Republicans to act alone instead of working across the aisle. As a result, we were in a partial government shutdown which left many agencies and critical services that address daily American needs without funds. 

 

You may be pleased to know, the record breaking government shutdown ended on January 25^th, 2019.  The government shutdown ended through an agreement between Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, and President Trump to fund the government until February 15^th, 2019.  President Trump did not receive the demanded $5 billion to fund a border wall.  However, furloughed federal employees did receive back pay for their work. During this shutdown, 800,000 federal employees were furloughed.  Instead of not showing up to work, federal employees such as Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Agents came to work without pay to keep America secure and safe.  Additionally, we saw our aviation industries suffer as air traffic worsened, and delays increased. This is a gruesome reminder that government shutdowns cause serious harm to families, national security, and daily operations which Americans rely on.  Congress and the President must come together to provide long term funding to all sections of government and put an end to short term funding solutions. I look forward to working with Members within my own party and across the aisle to provide long-term funding to our various functions of government.

Illegal citizens should be held to a higher standard than citizens when it comes to freedom of movement within the US border.

When immigrants the United States enter legally, violence, by definition, is not part of the equation.

Having a family geographically divided between north and south has shown me that citizens in the Mideast + New England corridor are oblivious to the dangers caused by persons who have entered the country illegally. All the while pontificating at wall supporters, describing them (us) as xenophobic and racist.  This reflects a Pollyanna like ignorance of the impact violent illegal immigrants  inflict.

I have witnessed such crimes in Georgia which, thankfully, resulted in no serious injury.

My congressman is such a good Democrat. There are parts of his district that red strongholds and he stopped going into those areas back when the topic of the day was the Affordable Care Act.

Please be aware, I do not support illegal immigration.  First and foremost, I believe we must stop people from entering this country illegally by sealing off our borders. However, we must have clearly defined rules that are easy to follow. I do support extending the temporary work visa program as certain industries, such as the agriculture, landscaping, restaurant and construction industries, depend on immigrant labor and therefore must retain access to this workforce. Moreover we must also create a policy to address the millions of people who are already here illegally, as simply deporting nearly 12 million people is not a practical solution.  

In your letter, you expressed support for H.R. 4760, the Securing America’s Future Act of 2018. As you may know, H.R. 4760 would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to revise immigrant visa allocation provisions, including family-related visas, and would also create a nonimmigrant classification for parents of adult U.S. citizens. H.R. 4760 would also authorize the construction of a border wall, as well as mandate E-Verify for businesses. Additionally, H.R. 4760 would restructure the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. In September 2017, President Trump decided to end the DACA program. DACA was an immigration policy that granted eligible individuals, who were brought to this country as minors, the ability to apply for deferred deportation and a work permit for a two-year period. Currently, H.R. 4760 is pending in the House Judiciary Committee. Although I am not a member of this committee, please rest assured that I will keep your views in mind as the debate on immigration policies continues.

The manner in which he jumps to the DACA issue is amusing. It is as if, he is saying that I am against illegal immigration, but this DACA thing make the whole package unpalatable. What the President did was allow a legislation to die because Congress would not pass it. The last President, with the help of the Republican congressional weaklings, was ignore the Constitution. This approach sets things in their proper spheres of responsibility. What's more, children that were brought into the country illegally are Illegal Immigrants. Blame for their situation does not fall on the government, blame belongs to the parents that crossed the border illegally.
In the end, Democrats like illegal immigrants as prospective voters and Republicans like them because they keep competitive low wages in the job market.

I Spent a Shitpot Load of Money But I Really Want to Balance the Budget

Earlier today we received a response letter from emailed request related to Numbers USA issues.

Thank you for contacting me regarding funding the federal government for Fiscal Year 2018. I appreciate your thoughts and I am grateful for the opportunity to respond.  On March 23, 2018, the Senate passed H.R.1625, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, by a bipartisan vote of 65-32. The President signed the bill into law the next day. I supported the legislation because it contains a number of key provisions that are critically important to the United States and Georgia. This agreement ends crippling cuts to our national defense by delivering the largest increase in defense funding in 15 years. This includes $405 million in specific funding directly for the recapitalization of the aging E-8 Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System platform, known as JSTARS and based at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Ga. Georgia families will benefit from additional funding for community health centers, school safety, training for new pediatricians and an improved federal response to the opioid crisis. Georgia farmers will see relief from burdensome regulations that were never intended to affect their operations. This bill also provides new resources for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, including critical funding for its biosecurity lab. Further, it includes funding to help maintain and improve our nation’s infrastructure and protects Georgia’s water interests. It also includes a measure that will help keep guns out of the hands of criminals while protecting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans. Additionally, the agreement includes $81.5 billion for the Department of Veterans Affairs, including an additional $2 billion for infrastructure programs to repair and enhance VA medical facilities and State Veterans Home, and a $337 million increase over the president’s original budget request for construction of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers navigation projects, such as the Savannah Harbor Expansion Project off the coast of Georgia.  While I believe this legislation was needed to fund important programs and keep the government open, the cycle of short-term spending bills that brought us to this point this spending bill is no way to run a country. We must reform our broken appropriations process and eliminate wasteful spending. To address our broken system, I have sponsored the Biennial Budgeting and Appropriations Act ever since I joined the Senate in 2005. Biennial budgeting would require Congress to reform the annual appropriations process with a two-year system in which we appropriate dollars in the first year and then conduct oversight on federally funded programs during the second year. I have also cosponsored a constitutional amendment that would require Congress to pass a balanced budget. As members of Congress, we are entrusted with the responsibility of spending taxpayer dollars wisely. I will continue working with my colleagues to improve our budget and appropriations process. For the most part this letter is boilerplate bullshit that did not speak in any manner to my insistence that budget include funding for the border wall. Money for this, money for that but as to your concern, Mr. Voter (aka me), fuck you. The highlighted line caught my eye as an especially rich dose of dishonesty, Johnny Isakson has his name on a proposal to balance the budget, all the while not mentioning once any attempt to control costs or practice any form of self-denial.

Rasmussen Reports® that more than 4 in 5 poled supports questioning citizenship status as part of the census. To watch the network news, you would think that the world was coming apart at the notion of attempting to learn where we stand as a nation. The negative position being taken is a smoke screen for disguising an intent to hide some painful truths, like there are some significant pockets of illegal immigrant residents, that are overtaxing social services, and adding to general sense of lawlessness.

I suspect that this is the case on many issues, the liberal press would have think that the nation is evenly divided in support for, them, the enlightened, opposed to deplorable racist remainder.

Stop Dangerous Sanctuary Cities Act

I send emails and faxes through NumbersUSA, sometimes I get responses.
After a strange start this year, with many "not voting" positions logged, our Senator has been getting good marks from the advocates to stop illegal and reduce legal immigration.

However, I have always drawn a clear distinction between legal and illegal immigration. Illegal immigration places a great strain on our institutions and in turn burdens the American taxpayer. For this reason, I believe immigration reform is one of the most significant domestic issues facing our nation today.
My top priority for reform has always been that we secure our borders from illegal immigration, drug and alien smuggling, and violent activity first and foremost. The defense of our nation begins with securing our borders and ending the opportunity for illegal entry. We are a nation of laws, and it is our duty to uphold and strictly enforce these laws.
Recently, the Trump administration has taken executive action to enforce our immigration laws. On January 25, 2017, President Trump issued an executive order fulfilling a campaign promise to build a large physical barrier along the border with Mexico. It is imperative that we secure our border in a fiscally responsible manner that encompasses appropriate measures for each region, including physical barriers, unmanned aerial vehicles, night time surveillance, and the increased manpower to patrol the border.
I have also opposed the creation of so-called “sanctuary cities”. On January 30, 2017, I co-sponsored S.87, the Stop Dangerous Sanctuary Cities Act. This bill seeks to create financial penalties for these cities that choose not to enforce federal immigration laws and shield illegal immigrants from deportation. These actions undermine the rule of law and are unacceptable. We must work to ensure the immigration laws we set forth are followed by all U.S. jurisdictions.
I will continue working to address this important matter of national security. Restoring credibility to our immigration system and enforcing the rule of law must go hand in hand to preserve the values that make our country so special. Our nation is made stronger by the valuable contributions that legal immigrants bring to our economy and diverse culture, but we must work to ensure that strength is not undermined by unlawful immigration. Rest assured, I will continue to work with my colleagues in the Senate to secure our borders and advocate for immigration policies that strengthen our nation and benefit the people of Georgia.

This is posted with the knowledge that the Federal government has never stopped placing "legal" immigrants in our neighborhoods without an opportunity on our  part to resist or even protest. Look at what has gone on in Idaho, a business wants the cheap labor, and the local government  is bending over backwards  to make sure rapists are assimilated without discomfort.
