Policeman Insulted by a Barista

This holiday weekend my son an I were talking about where we purchase coffee. I've been a lifelong Dunkin Donuts man while my son, a young professional living in Chicago says that Starbucks is his frequent go-to coffee shop.

A police officer in Oklahoma was given a cup with the word PIG on it.
That DD was on my path to work was true enough, but there is a Starbucks on my way as well.

Truth is, I've always felt out of place in a Starbucks, sort of like Paulie Walnuts in The Sopranos.

This story affirms my feeling, and it is not the first situation of this ilk for Starbucks.

I know, and the officer knows, that this is not a Starbucks corporate policy, it is only the action of impolite child.

The suspension might not be enough, this would be a firing offense in my business.

Applying a stiff punishment for improper behavior sets the correct tone for remaining employee moral and treatment of customers.

You would never see this behavior from an employee at Chick Fil A.

Huskies, Stop Barking

Found this over at Gatestone, catching my interest as having been a school I almost attended.
Alan M. Dershowitz doing more positive work, attempting to assuage the Simpson and Epstein defenses.
In northeast Connecticut, two students are charged with ridiculing African Americans by using the N-word as part of a game. The game was recorded and posted on the internet, causing righteously angry responses.  A local news report can be seen within the following link.
The students were not directing the comments at any particular person, in fact were walking in an empty parking lot. The students have been arrested and face a courts hearing based on an old Connecticut law that says.
Section 53-37
Ridicule on account of creed, religion, color, denomination, nationality or race.
Any person who, by his advertisement, ridicules or holds up to contempt any person or class of persons, on account of the creed, religion, color, denomination, nationality or race of such person or class of persons, shall be guilty of a class D misdemeanor.
This law is in conflict with the 1st Amendment of the Constitution is a giant way. Almost surely, the state will argue that the two dopes were creating an imminent threat. The hearing has already been pushed back once, to 13-November.

By the way, the full effect of the potential punishment is under $100.

David Cutcliffe and the Duke Band

My brother Les is a huge Alabama fan, loves to travel and watch the games, has the means to do so. To kick off this year's season he came to Atlanta and was kind enough to share a ticket. Alabama was playing the Duke Blue Devils.
The Blue Devils are led by Peyton Manning's mentor  David Cutcliffe, a man that I consider to be an arrogant jerk-off, good coach but a real prick. For the past few years he has enjoyed making fun the Georgia Tech triple option offense, comparing it to a high school offense. There really is no great science in any football offense, only a heard mentality of coaches that intimidated by what they cannot control. Admittedly Coach Cutcliffe has backed up his mouth and had good success against my alma mater.
Circling back to the game, after about a quarter, Alabama got is act together and started beating the feathers out of Duke. In the second half, in an attempt to eat up clock and slow the game down, he started running triple option plays, and fairly often. Duke even got penalized for some cut blocks.
I enjoy the triple option offense, run well it is more exciting than and pass happy spread scheme.

The last point I want to make is that the band for Duke has taken on the persona of their head coach in their arrogance. Pictured above the Duke band taunting Alabama fans before the game. Both are assholes and deserve the David Cup.

God and the Doctor

My grandfather was a doctor who spent his career as a psychiatrist working in state hospitals all over the south. He started in the late 20's and retired middle 60's. As a little boy I remember him having a framed picture which included the poem that follows......
God and the Doctor we alike adore
But only when in danger, not before;
The danger o'er, both are alike requited,
God is forgotten, and the Doctor slighted.
This poem was penned by an interesting man named Robert Owen,  a social activist to whom many quotations are attributed.
Interestingly enough, the framed picture, now at my parent house, the poem is incorrectly attributed to another poet Ella Wheeler Wilcox. Wilcox's best known quote is…….
Laugh, and the world laughs with you; weep, and you weep alone.

F*** the Chinese Government

Adam Silver has had much success as the NBA Commissioner. Under his leadership the league has promoted a star-centric promotional policy and in general given the players the upper hand in determining how rosters are composed. The balance of power in the league has shifted from the owners to the players. This fan does not appreciate the selfish players-first mentality, but I guess that it has been there all along just under the veneer of the now absent good taste.
South Park Puts NBA to Shame, Says ‘F*** the Chinese Government’
I had understood that Adam Silver was gay, but after reading his bio at Wikipedia must admit to being mistaken. After seeing the NBA cancel games and expel fans who held up mildly worded posters decrying the actions of the Chinese in Hong Kong, I am convinced that Adam Silver is simply a capitalist posing as woke.

Convert, Marry Me, or Die

The Gatestone Institute is a non-partisan, non-profit policy think tank that works to fill the gaps left by common sources of media.
Convert, Marry Me, or Die': Persecution of Christians, July 2019
Written by Raymond Ibrahim, this is of a series that describes the slaughter of Christians, attacks on churches, attacks on apostates, rape and murder of Christians, and the general abuse of everything non-Muslim. Much of this occurs in the middle east, far east and Africa. At times showing the relationship between Europe and its southern neighbors in Africa.
Fatemeh Azad, a 58-year-old Muslim woman who had converted to Christianity against her Muslim husband's will and fled to Germany, was denied asylum there and deported back to Iran. There she was immediately arrested by authorities waiting for her plane to land.... "When Fatemeh made her asylum appeal, her lawyers argued that apostasy (conversion away from Islam) is punishable by the death penalty in Iran." This, however, was insufficient for Germany. — Persecution.org; July 25, 2019, Iran, Germany.
We see parallel behavior in the United States with its immigration policies toward religious minorities from the middle east and Africa. Persons from the persecuting (majority) religion claiming asylum successfully, while the afflicted minority being denied the right to live in our place of religious freedom.
There is certainly a contingent of Europhiles in the United States, seeking to play follow the socialist state central planners who disguise their racism.
Maybe we are not quite of free as we thought.

Done For

Is it "complete", "finished" or "completely finished"?
No English dictionary has been able to adequately explain the difference between these two words - "Complete" or "Finished".
In a recent linguistic competition held in London and attended by, supposedly, the best in the world, Samdar Balgobin, a Guyanese man, was the clear winner with a standing ovation which lasted over 5 minutes.
The final question was: 'How do you explain the difference between COMPLETE and FINISHED in a way that is easy to understand?  Some people say there is no difference between COMPLETE and FINISHED.'
Here is his astute answer:
"When you marry the right woman, you are COMPLETE.  When you marry the wrong woman, you are FINISHED.   And when the right one catches you with the wrong one, you are COMPLETELY FINISHED!"
He won a trip around the world and a case of 25 year old Scotch !

Unfreedom of the Press

Unfreedom of the Press was published during the summer of 2019, this is the first book that I ever advance ordered because of radio commentary or advice. Written by Mark Levin, the book is short at only 227 pages in the hardback version. Come to think of it, this probably is not released in paperback format.
As anyone can tell from watching or listening to Mr. Levin's, the author is intelligent, well researched and passionate. The intelligence and research are evident in this offering, conveying the emotion is understandably tough to accomplish.
The history of the press's reporting of political news in the United States has ranged from newspapers and pamphleteers being openly aligned with one political party, to the practice of objective reporting which for me would be the equivalent of the scientific method. The writing work may of given themselves too mush credit because objective reporting has morphed into objective reporting with a thinly veiled alignment. In other readings, this development has paralleled the progressive movement in America, triggered by the German philosopher of the Bismarck era, and taking local form with progressive practices initiated by Woodrow Wilson and like minded politicians.
One of my favorite quotes from the book is.....
Now it is often a euphemism for the prerogative of reported to produce their synthetic commodity.
Daniel J. Boorstin
Boorstin was Librarian of Congress from 1975 to 1987, a educated man of high standing and a former communist that wrote a book titled The Image: A Guide to Pseudo-events  in America.
Anyway, this a book worth reading, especially of you are a fan of the radio show.

Tommy Robinson Already Knows

That his government does not protect free speech. He was jailed stealing the truth to illegal behavior by British and immigrant Muslims that the government turns a blind eye toward.
UK: Tony Blair Think-Tank Proposes End to Free Speech
That Tony Blair’s study group endorses restriction of free speech is hardly surprising.
Disturbingly, the main concern of Blair's think-tank appears to be the online verbal 'hatred' displayed by citizens in response to terrorist attacks.

Has Rep. Ilhan Omar Committed a Stoning Offense?

This is an amusing play on difference between describing Islam as a religion of peace and the practice of Sharia law which itself, on particular points, is abhorrent to western culture.
Has Rep. Ilhan Omar Committed a Stoning Offense?
She is publicly Sharia-compliant. Will she ask to be stoned?
Excerpts from the linked article.
“Allah’s Apostle” is, of course, Muhammad, who did indeed carry out stonings. In one hadith he challenges a group of Jewish rabbis about stoning. The hadith records, amidst the barbarism and brutality, a final act of love and compassion:
The Jews came to Allah’s Apostle and told him that a man and a woman from amongst them had committed illegal sexual intercourse. Allah’s Apostle said to them, “What do you find in the Torah (old Testament) about the legal punishment of Ar-Rajm (stoning)?” They replied, (But) we announce their crime and lash them.” Abdullah bin Salam said, “You are telling a lie; Torah contains the order of Rajm.” They brought and opened the Torah and one of them solaced his hand on the Verse of Rajm and read the verses preceding and following it. Abdullah bin Salam said to him, “Lift your hand.” When he lifted his hand, the Verse of Rajm was written there. They said, “Muhammad has told the truth; the Torah has the Verse of Rajm. The Prophet then gave the order that both of them should be stoned to death. (‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar said, “I saw the man leaning over the woman to shelter her from the stones.” (Bukhari, vol. 4, bk. 56, no. 829)
Even the monkeys practiced stoning, according to another hadith:
During the pre-lslamic period of ignorance I saw a she-monkey surrounded by a number of monkeys. They were all stoning it, because it had committed illegal sexual intercourse. I too, stoned it along with them. (Bukhari, vol. 5, bk. 58, no. 188)
In western culture, comparing a woman to a monkey is enough to get you on the wrong side of most liberal teams.

To that, there was this more direct comment on the internet.

Muslims Against Antisemitism

This is encouraging,,,
Muslims Against Antisemitism:
It is important... to note that, in recent years, many Muslims have openly and firmly come out to oppose all forms of Jewish hatred and anti-Zionism.
On April 24, 2014, thirty French imams signed an open letter in Le Monde, in which they denounced antisemitism and terrorism. In the letter, they recognized that "some imams" had for two decades diffused talks and practices subversive of Islam which corrupt (gangrènent) society. They expressed "compassion for all our fellow citizens who have been directly or indirectly affected by terrorism and by the anti-Semitic crimes that have blindly struck our country."
The same letter was signed by over 300 politicians.
It is easy enough to see, be bathed in, evidence of anti-Zionism. You and I can pontificate endlessly on what should happen, but the truth is, the only the Muslims themselves generate the motivation for and actualization of reformation.

Killing Free Speech in Canada

The right has long complained that media and governments work to squelch free speech. Look at what the IRS did to the Tea Party ilk. Limited to secondary media platforms, conservatives have found a means by which to communicate ideas. The left, in recognizing  the growth of conservative ideals, seeks to restrict that free speech by defining it as hateful.
It is true that there is a lot a crap said on the internet, coming from both sides most issues.
Does a balanced platform outweigh the established media bias, I think not.
Killing Free Speech in Canada
China, England and Germany are throwing people in jail for expressing ideas some consider to be hateful. Canada is looking to do the same.
Not all people think speech should be restricted, many recognize the paranoid behaviors being exhibited.
In America, knock on wood, we can let it all hang loose, as long as there are not calls to violent action, it is legal say what you think.
That is good.

Corn Dog Bernie

This morning on the radio, I listened to reports from the Iowa State Fair and how Democratic candidates for President were noshing on such things as pork chops and fried peanut-butter sandwiches. The most appealing, to me, was that Bernie Sanders was walking around eating a corn dog.  The names "corn dog" and "Bernie Sanders", are synonymous.
Interest peaked, did a search as soon as I got to the office and found an ABC news video showing exactly that, an overweight old man, gripping a younger lady's hand and banging down a corn dog the other. In a world without media bias this would be material for the like of Johnny Carson.

When evidence was found, the title for the article was almost as entertaining.

Bernie Sanders braves crowds for a corn dog

The author meant "braves" to be funny, so I will dispense with the obvious comments.
Did everyone at the fair have to pitch-in for the man's dinner?

Don Surber: ABC should drop WSB-TV

ABC President Karey Burke is considering shutting down television production in Georgia.
Don Surber: ABC should drop WSB-TV:
ABC should drop the popular local station, WSB, if they were consistent in their social pressure over Georgia's new abortion law. They won't because it will cost them a great deal in the market when it comes to other products. Threatening action without consistency or thoroughness is no different than a child holding its breath to get what it wants.
The child will breathe when it has too.

Demands to Fire Counter-Terror Activist Anne Marie Waters

Anne Marie Waters is a plain spoken woman who stands for just for principles progressives detest.
Europe has an immigration problem, having very little natural population growth, governments seek growing populations to justify inflating money supplies. These governments preach and indoctrinate citizens to support open borders. When citizen's complain and protest the effects of open borders, they are persecuted, free speech is squelched.
This is where Tommy Robinson ran afoul of the government by saying out load truths that contradict policy failures government needs suppressed.
Antisemitic, Sharia-Enforcing Labour Party Demands Boris Johnson FIRE Counter-Terror Activist Anne Marie Waters

Americans Should Be More Fearful of White Men

I am a white man in America who thinks that this woman is a bigot, to whom is deserved no media attention. That thought is wrong because media is not interested in truth, they are interested in what sell advertising to their clients.
So this is not news, it is opinion.
And bigotry, no matter how sweetly it is uttered...
I would say our country should be more fearful of white men
across our country because they are actually causing most of the deaths within this country. And so if fear was the driving force of policies to keep America safe, Americans safe inside of this country, we should be profiling, monitoring, and creating policies to fight the radicalization of white men.

ICE Veteran Argues with Democratic Congressxxx “persons”

Men who do the hard work should be respected for their effort and commitment.
Democrats in Congress set up a situation with purpose to rail against the very people that they prevent from being effective.
When you slander the men in the trenches, they might fight back because there can be no patience for shenanigans of fools such as Representative Jesus Garcia of Illinois.

Acosta's Resignation May Result in More Losses for Prosecutors

I suspected as much, the plea was due to poor evidence and low chance  of courtroom success.
Lawyers for the government must be trusted to make value judgements every day, judgements based on knowledge that that they know better than everyone but the accused. We have to trust that they are good stewards of the governments resources.
Being a Trump appointment, the press jumped all over the manufactured issue, like sharks on blood in the water.

Acosta's Resignation May Result in More Losses for Prosecutors: Experienced lawyers with whom I have discussed the case -- both prosecutors and defense attorneys -- worry that the thumb of media and political pressure will be placed on the scales of justice when it comes to the exercise of prosecutorial discretion.

This is no more than armchair quarterbacking, by children with pencils, than a decade after the game.
The current state of things, measurement and perspective are absent.
There is only hatred and opportunity to impugn.

The Age of Turbulence

The book The Age of Turbulence, Adventures in a New World is not your ordinary autobiographical work. Written by Alan Greenspan and published by The Penguin Press in 2007, this book in hardcover form has 505 pages.
Alan Greenspan describes his childhood living in the Washington Heights section of New York City. His parents estranged, primarily raised by his mother's family. Public schools, Julliard for the clarinet. Missing World War 2 with a medical deferment, NYU and Columbia. Playing his clarinet in a band that included Stan Getz. Two marriages, the second to Andrea Mitchell. Work in private financial markets and the eventual appointment as Chairman of the Federal Reserve, succeeding Paul Volcker, to server from 1987 to 2006, serving four Presidents.
Much of the book covers his financial philosophies, what he considers to be important components to successful systems, what does not work and what may come to pass.
Greenspan believes:
  • The United States has succeeded in growth primarily because of adherence to the rule of law in a non-partial way.
  • Financial growth is best in capitalist systems where citizens property rights are protected. Citizens must feel safe to invest effort and property, essentially to take risks, for the benefits of personal growth.
  • Social systems are generally well meaning but not create productive growth.
  • Fabian socialist systems, such as that in India, and now departed from in England, an attempt  of a hybrid capitalist + socialism do not work either.
  • Communism wherever practiced has been a brutal failure. At the time of this publishing, Russian buying power was 1/3 of those industrial economies.
  • The economies of Europe, Japan and United States are all facing zero to negative population growth with the promise of substantial retirement population growth. These economies all need to face harsh realities with regards to social program costs outstripping tax receipts. Most likely a reason why in both Europe and the United States governments are allowing substantial immigration over the objections of citizens.
  • India, with the largest democratic population in the world is unlikely to evolve in a positive way from heavily bureaucratic processes established by Fabian socialism
  • China's growth will subside as the agrarian society converts to an industrial society.
I likes the book very much, took me a long time to read because  little in it was entertaining, but I learned a lot by the effort.

This Ought To

Put a few pairs of panties in some wadage.

The Jerusalem Post reports:
Netanyahu: I will name a Golan town after Trump
The Prime Minister of Isreal “is a need to express our appreciation by calling a community or neighborhood on the Golan Heights after Donald Trump."
and
“I am here with my family and many citizens of Israel at the foot of the Golan Heights, happy with the joy of the holiday and our beautiful country,” Netanyahu said in a video post. “And there is more joy - a few weeks ago I brought President Trump’s official recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights forever.”
The United Nations has become a center for endorsing Muslims by denunciation of all things Israeli, basically rewarding racism and murder. Trump comes along, see injustice and acts unilaterally, with strongly symbolic moves, in support of an ally, reversing the chickenshit policies of the previous POTUS administration. Here in the United States, media coverage is non-existent.

Thank you Bibi.

Chinese Sex Trade in Pakistan: Abuse of Christian Girls

It is an ugly world out there.
Chinese Sex Trade in Pakistan: Abuse of Christian Girls
Once purchased, women and girls are typically locked in a room and raped repeatedly, with the goal of getting them pregnant quickly so they can provide a baby for the family. After giving birth, some are allowed to escape -- but forced to leave their children behind.
Racism completed with slavery. Yet is is the Christians and the Jews that receive the brunt of criticism in liberal media and the the United Press. Is it wrong to sense that there is another holocaust in the making?

My Senator Johnny Isakson

At the moment, most of the folks that represent me in Congress are not voting in the manner that I hope for. From the NumbersUSA site, these are the representatives to Congress from Georgia that carry an "F-" rating. The Democrats are not a surprise, they are being consistent to their party platform. The Republicans however, serve hidden masters, Georgia having a large agricultural business component, has many large donators that want cheap labor. Republican candidates take the money, tell the voters what they want to hear and then vote against those promises.
Bishop, Sanford (Rep. - 2nd) D - GA 0%
Ferguson, Drew (Rep. - 3rd) R - GA 0%
Isakson, Johnny (Sen.) R - GA 0%
Johnson, Henry (Rep. - 4th) D - GA 0%
Lewis, John (Rep. - 5th) D - GA 0%
McBath, Lucy (Rep. - 6th) D - GA 0%
Scott, David (Rep. - 13th) D - GA 0%
Woodall, Rob (Rep. - 7th) R - GA 0%
David Perdue, the other Senator is not doing much better, posting a lofty "D" rating.
Johnny Isakson will not be getting any campaign contributions or votes from me in the rest of his or my lifetime. I do not care if Stacy Abrams takes his place as a result. I'll take the fat racist over the lying bastard every day.
Following graphics include some of the reasons for our representatives poor grades.

What if the New York Times Cartoon had depicted a Muslim, a Lesbian, an African American or a Mexican as a Dog?

What if the New York Times Cartoon had depicted a Muslim, a Lesbian, an African American or a Mexican as a Dog?

During World War II, the New York Times intentionally diminished reporting on the Nazis murdering Jews in the death camps of Germany. The Sulzberger’s, in control of the paper then, while not allowing as public, worked behind the scenes to help relatives escape the carnage. Ironically the publishing Sulzberger family is Jewish.

As I have said many times, liberalism has its foundation, self-loathing.

Cuban Illegal Alien Charged With Murder Was Ordered Deported Two Years Ago

There are two governments to blame for this, Cuba, for refusing to accept their citizen who was order deported and the United States for not asserting its mandated "order of supervision". The motives of the Cuban government are consistent, they don't want to deal with him. The government of the United States takes the same attitude of not wanting to deal with it and releases a predator on its citizens.
Illegal Alien Charged With Murder Was Ordered Deported Two Years Ago: MIAMI, FL (Fox News) - An illegal immigrant accused of murder is stuck on U.S. soil after officials in his home country refuse to accept his deportation because of his criminal history.

David Paneque, 29, was caught on video fatally shooting his friend Leandro Lopez, 31, while the two were at a parking garage in Miami last month. As Paneque sits in jail awaiting trial, it’s been revealed by the Tampa Bay Times that he was supposed to be deported to Cuba nearly two years ago, but the country wouldn’t take him back because of his extensive criminal past.
“Where are they going to send me? Cuba doesn’t want me, they don’t want me here. They don’t want me there.”
Is Guantanamo Bay an option?

Socialism

It is both interesting and sad that socialism in American is a growing reality.
Having worked a career as manufacturing engineer, I understand how effort is fostered by reward.
It is not surprising that government schools teach the benefits of socialism, touting its emotional attachment to fairness and, incorrectly so, to democracy. Why wouldn't a government teach what serves the government best? The problem, for me, is that governments act upon their own best interests before the interests of its citizens.
All economic systems have their reward centers, sometimes characterized by socialists as capitalistic greed. For socialism, greed is found amongst the government and is sycophantic industries.
Socialism makes non-governmental workers equal in terms of responsibility and reward. Within the confines of socialism, equality of reward is demotivating to the better skilled individuals. Equality of reward motivates the better skilled to ratchet down in-system effort and increase system avoidance. Business systems run best when motivation for reward is present.
Go ahead, stick a fork in it.

Fahrenheit 451

Sometimes, oftentimes, I am way behind the curve. Fahrenheit 451 is a book I have been aware of for over 40 years, but never cracked a cover, until recently. A fictional novel researched and written by Ray Bradbury, in the forties, published by Simon & Schuster in 1951.
This is a science fiction story focused on a futuristic society, centrally manipulated by a government which controls the information citizens receive, and destroys the information, namely books, that citizens could use to generate thought. Individualism is denied by removing the triggers that incite creativity.
The central character is a man named Montag, his occupation is firefighter. In this world the people are addicted to television and listen to insipid dialog constantly with earbuds. News is controlled by the government and sprinkled in to television entertainment in bite sized sanity bits. All books other than trade magazine are outlawed and Montag's occupation as a firefighter is different from what we know in that the risk of fire to property is zero, firemen exist to burn books that citizens have hidden away from the government. The people have been lead to be ignorant by a government that needs them to be malleable.
As the protagonist, this fireman is called out with a team to the homes of reported book owners, the books are found and burned, the citizens jailed or exterminated. Montag develops a conscience, in curiosity sneaks away some books for reading, including a Bible, which by this time has become a rare thing. The fire chief discovers Montag's secret obsession and conducts a raid of his home, Montag's wife betrays here husband reveals the library. The books are burned on the front lawn, and in a confrontation, Montag, in defense of himself, burns the fire chief to death. Montag goes on the lam from the government. The government uses television to inform citizens of the fugitive in the city street, whipping up support. The search becomes the biggest thing happening in the city. Montag manages to escape the city and get to the country where he joins up with a group of men who roam the countryside. These men have each memorized particular books, shedding the physical books, they roam the country on defunct railroad tracks, sharing their knowledge with the like-minded and waiting for a revolution and then the next Renaissance. The government, to save face in their failed search, kills another man on television, after intentionally misidentifying him as Montag the fugitive.
Fahrenheit 451 predicted parts of what we now recognize as common culture, such as, the rejection of great works of literature, supplanting religion, a preoccupation with television, personal ear-to-ear communication, and a deceptive government keeping is people ignorant to make the matter of control simple.

In short I loved the book,Fahrenheit 451, the temperature at which book paper catches fire and burns.

Another Deflection

As I have said before, my congressman is David Scott, representative of the 13th district in Georgia. Mr. Scott basically is a standard democrat, educated first at a, HBC, Florida A&M, and then in the Ivy League at the University of Pennsylvania for an MBA. Little David has been in in various elected positions since 1973, pretty close to 50 years. He represents only his Democrat constituents and has intentionally neglected town hall meetings, where the constituent opposition was strong. He sits safely in a gerrymandered district and spews nonsense answers to real questions and demands.
Dear Mr. VOTER:

Thank you for contacting me regarding immigration. I appreciate your thoughts on this issue.

Please be aware, I do not support illegal immigration.  I believe we must stop people from entering this country illegally by sealing off our borders. To that end, I support legislation that requires building an electronic fence and the use of advanced technology to help with surveillance. I also support increasing the number of border patrol agents, as well as further using the National Guard and other military personnel, to help with border security. However, we must have clearly defined rules that are easy to follow and keep people safe.

In your letter, you expressed support for H.R. 479. As you may know, H.R. 479 would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act and end the visa lottery program that awards 55,000 green cards to foreign citizens. Applications are selected through a random selection process that is administered by the Department of State. In 2018, nearly 14.7 million entries were submitted for the lottery. According to the Harvard Study “The Labor Economics Case for the Diversity Visa Lottery”, the benefits of the Diversity Visa Program include strengthening and diversifying the American labor workforce, while creating a better life for immigrants. Currently, H.R 479 is pending in the House Committee of the Judiciary. While I am not a member of this committee, please rest assured I will keep your views in mind should this bill come to the House floor for a vote.

Again, I thank you for sharing your views with me. I hope you will continue to give me the benefit of your opinion in the future. Member of Congress

You have to admire the chutzpah, suggesting that he is against illegal immigration while adding that what really need is an electric fence and better rules. An electronic fence may very well be appropriate in some sections, but the rules comment is what I really take issue with. There is an abundance of rules already on the books, they are not working. Adding new rules does not remove the attractiveness of opportunity for potential illegal aliens. The temptation needs to be removed, passing a national E-Verify requirement will constrict the attractiveness of opportunity, without considerable expense. For the people who are and plan to storm the border, rules don't do squat.
David Scott, you're full of shit.

Schiff met with Fusion GPS co-founder last July

This little m-f is a weasel. Adam Schiff has been the source of many leaks and his willingness to hog the camera and lie about the committee proceedings has made him a darling of the media and a completely disrespected politician.

I hope he looses his chairmanship.

He Believes in Border Security

As long as it is done with a magic wand.
It has been a while, life is a busy thing. For fun, adding this response to an email I sent to my congressman regarding government shutdowns and border protection.
Dear Mr. Man:

Thank you for contacting me regarding the government shutdown under President Donald J. Trump. I appreciate your thoughts on this issue.
In your letter, you expressed concern about the most recent, record breaking, 35-day government shutdown. The shutdown occurred due to a disagreement between Congress and the President on funding priorities including funding a wall on the southern border of the United States. To be clear, I am not supportive of government shutdowns nor do I support funding the government one or a few months at a time. In fact, for the last government shutdown I voted in favor of keeping the government open and in support of H.R. 2977, the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018. H.R. 2977 provided equal increases in funding for Defense and Non-Defense spending. Furthermore, I supported this bill because it will raise the budget caps for two years allowing Congress to fund the government with a longer-term bill for the rest of 2018.
On the topic of border security, please be aware, I do not support illegal immigration. First and foremost, I believe we must stop people from entering this country illegally by sealing off our borders.

In your letter your expressed explicit concerns of a government shutdown as it relates to President Trump’s demand for border wall funds. President Trump has demanded $5 billion to fund a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border. However, President Trump in the past promised the American people that Mexico will pay for the construction of the border wall, now he wants the Americans to pay $5 billion for its construction.  On December 19th, 2018 the Senate passed a bipartisan Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund the government until February 8th, 2019 which Speaker Paul Ryan said President Trump would not sign until $5 billion is included for the construction of the wall. Democrats have offered homeland security alternatives to increase border patrol agents, improved security technology, and more however, President Trump has opposed these bipartisan efforts empowering House Republicans to act alone instead of working across the aisle. As a result, we were in a partial government shutdown which left many agencies and critical services that address daily American needs without funds.

You may be pleased to know, the record breaking government shutdown ended on January 25th, 2019.  The government shutdown ended through an agreement between Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, and President Trump to fund the government until February 15th, 2019.  President Trump did not receive the demanded $5 billion to fund a border wall.  However, furloughed federal employees did receive back pay for their work. During this shutdown, 800,000 federal employees were furloughed.  Instead of not showing up to work, federal employees such as Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Agents came to work without pay to keep America secure and safe.  Additionally, we saw our aviation industries suffer as air traffic worsened, and delays increased. This is a gruesome reminder that government shutdowns cause serious harm to families, national security, and daily operations which Americans rely on.  Congress and the President must come together to provide long term funding to all sections of government and put an end to short term funding solutions. I look forward to working with Members within my own party and across the aisle to provide long-term funding to our various functions of government.

For MLK Day

Thought that I had to post something, so why not a highly touted Senator from New Jersey, that happens to have the right ethnicity.

The Cardinal and the Kremlin

A Tom Clancy novel The Cardinal of the Kremlin was published in 1988 by Putnam.
As with all Clancy novels we have the normal characters, Jack Rayan, along with Ritter, John Clark, Bart Mancuso, the Admiral Greer and as a surprise Marco Ramius.
The plot concentrates on military and clandestine facets of what we have come to know as SDI. Both Russia and the United States are racing, in secret, to be the first to complete their laser defense systems which are intended to destroy enemy missiles. The Americans have the better programming and optics, the Russians have conquered the power delivery systems. Both have what the other have to complete their systems. Both countries have spies embedded within the their oppositions scientific development teams.
The main protagonist, Jack Ryan, while serving as a expert on a team of diplomats negotiating an arms reduction treaty, become involved in a plan for extraction of a long time, highly ranking military advisor linked to the Russian Politburo. The plan is scary, and Jack Ryan gets a scraped knee, but is eventually successful.
Ramius showing in the book was minor and insignificant.
The book is worth a read, even if it is generally formulaic, I am surprised this wasn't made into a movie..
