This is a new word that I learned earlier today while studying the recent exodus from the United Methodist Church. The United Methodist Church at its recent General Conference made changes in their constitution.  The UMC now recognizes gay marriage and the ordination of LGBTQ.  Adultery and extramarital sex are no longer chargeable offenses for pastors. Foreshadowing these changes was the already mentioned conservative exodus to, in many cases the Global Methodist Church. Newcomers to the nascent GMC recognize the issues that divided the UMC are only superficially about sexuality and gender. The divide is fundamentally about the authority of the Bible. 

The term inerrancy is used with respect to the Bible, judging it to be infallible. 

A while back I read Rules for Radicals, written by Saul Alinsky. In that he described how he would use trained activists to indoctrinate community leaders, college professors and theologists to imbed seeds of contrarian concepts with intent if creating disharmony in communities.

Why is it that the government, in this case the FBI, characterizes expressions of racism as "right wing".  In this story a transgender person, a biological man, has expressed hatred for black people.  The hatred reportedly arose from black persons not respecting female representation.

To me, this is disturbed individual, assigning the classification an oversimplification. 

As people and governments are prone to do.

In my experience, transexuals are almost always left leaning.

Where is it factual that only right leaning persons are racist?

There are endless streams of cases of right and left based racism.  

In this case the FBI's public service announcements belie the bias of its political leadership.  

Let's hope that the rank-and-file agents are seriously investigating. 

Customer Dis-service

 When I was in high school, I had a job working in a grocery store. In my few years there, learned to rotate dairy, fruit and vegetables, slice cold-cuts, stock shelves, bag groceries and run a cash register.

The cash registers were the old kind where you had to punch specific buttons for dollars and cents.  Counting change was the first thing to learn.

1. Politely tell the customer the total.
2. Accept the money from the customer and place on the shelf above the cash tray.
3. Open the cash drawer, and starting with the total of the bill, count up to the amount of money that the customer had supplied.
4. Place the money in the customer's hand.
5. Thank the customer.
6. Place the customer's money into the cash drawer.
7. Help the customer with his bags if necessary.

The main rule was to be nice, the second was the manner of counting out change.

Today, I was at a burger joint grabbing lunch. The bill was $12.29, so I handed the young lady $20.30, with the expectation that all she would have to do is hand me $8.00.  Over about a minute I watched the young lady counting out change, to the point that she had a hand full of coins. 

Trying to be helpful, I told her that:

All I need is $8.00 cash.

To which I received the angry retort:

I know how to count change.

Which obviously was not correct.

Possessing a short temper, I held back and in an equally angry tone said:

Excuse me?

 Another employee scooted over at that moment, presumably to support the angry dumb one, so I eased up, took my lunch and moved to a table, sitting facing the cashier. 

This is more and more common, I understand that cash registers are more advanced, in that there has been no need to teach employees how to count change. In most places these days cashiers enter the amount of cash received, count out the change and thrust it out there without a word or even a smile. 

So, a skill that required a pleasant exchange between the cashier and the customer has been forgotten.  We have no choice to accept that young people are too fucking lazy to count, but I draw the line at rudeness and absolutely let them know when they've crossed it. 

Funny thing is, I usually make to extra effort to be cheerful and helpful to cashiers and servers.

Word of the Day

Always trying to increase my word comprehension, am signed up for an emailed "Word of the Day". Today's word was one I already knew, even if I would have pronounced and spelled it incorrectly.

Seeing this immediately brought to mind President Biden's meeting with Putin. 

During the Presidential campaign many concluded that candidate Biden was cognitively diminished. I believe that many Democrats understood that Biden was a shell that would be easily controlled by the bureaucracy. A bureaucracy that would resume the course that President Trump tried, and failed, to detour.  We saw four years of the State Department resisting Trump policies, now we are back in the channel of unelected liberals running foreign policy. 

I for one and sick of the rigmarole.

Gun Logic

1. Eleven teens die each day because of texting while driving. Maybe it's time to raise the age of Smart Phone ownership to 21. 
2. If gun control laws actually worked, Chicago would be Mayberry, USA. 
3. The Second Amendment makes more women equal than the entire feminist movement  
4. Legal gun owners have 300 million guns and probably a trillion rounds of ammo. Seriously, folks, if we were the problem, you'd know it. 
5. When JFK was killed, nobody blamed the rifle. 
6. The NRA (National Rifle Association) murders 0 people and receives nothing ( 0 $$$$) in government funds. Planned Parenthood kills 350,000 babies every year and receives $500,000,000 in tax dollars annually. 
7. I have no problem with vigorous background checks when it comes to firearms. While we're at it, let's do the same when it comes to immigration, Voter I.D., and candidates running for office. 
8. Folks keep talking about another Civil War. One side knows how to shoot and probably has a trillion rounds. The other side has crying closets and is confused about which bathroom to use. Now tell me, how do you think that would end? 
9. Don’t be afraid to share this. There’s more logic and common sense expressed here than probably anything you have seen on the news today.

No Bias Here

Says the monkey with hand clasped tight over his eyes.

Years ago I used to love listening to NPR while on long trips. 

Friday mornings were my favorite, with regular guests like the cowboy poet Baxter Black and the venerable Red Barber reminiscing baseball past and describing his camellia bushes.

That was more than 25 years ago, Red has been gone for 28 years.

NPR holds itself in high esteem, but they rely on the achievement of people and principles long since departed.

The soft tones are still there, but the bias has made them blind to possibility of an alternative explanation.

Today there is significant evidence circulating, about New York Post articles that NPR has prejudged to be "not really stories". An ironic position considering their support articles casting the President in a bad light and now proven falsely accusations leading to impeachment.

I would accept an investigation and reasoned conclusions, but this is an irrational rejection of evidence that the FBI possesses. On this topic, which parallel support of anarchy, NPR deserves to have its Federal funding removed.

The self describing comment "waste our time", would be better replaced with the "waste your money", and by your, the taxes money spent on NPR.

Bye Bye Twitter

 Have not been what you would call an active Twitter user.

I have followed leads to the platform by way of links found on the web and embedded within  emails.

We joined Parler a couple of months ago. While the content at this point seems to be mostly conservative, a balance is evolving. Parler's main principle is the protection of freedom of speech.

Facebook is another matter. The founder has been erratic in application of policies, Facebook is suppressing speech and an unfairly favoring liberal policies and candidates. Facebook has been acting as a publisher by restricting content and should loose its protection from libel suits. Frankly it pisses me off that these assholes make money off of my use of their platform.  Unfortunately I consider that platform to be a collection of my friends and  keeping that in mind, try to treat friends as I wish to be treated, kindly. Not everyone recognizes that, so I use the snooze control often.

YouTube is a component part to platform upon which this blog rests. They have been censoring expression, reporting, and speech. Have kept my account open, using YouTube for technical research and such.  Social video viewing has, for me, been replaced by Rumble. As soon as that platform contains the bulk of the information I want, I will quit usage.

This Damned Guy

A convicted six offender, arrested over 100 times, Rashid Brimmage has been arrested.
Let's hope he is on parole, so that his likelihood of incarceration is increased.

Corn Dog Bernie

This morning on the radio, I listened to reports from the Iowa State Fair and how Democratic candidates for President were noshing on such things as pork chops and fried peanut-butter sandwiches. The most appealing, to me, was that Bernie Sanders was walking around eating a corn dog.  The names "corn dog" and "Bernie Sanders", are synonymous.
Interest peaked, did a search as soon as I got to the office and found an ABC news video showing exactly that, an overweight old man, gripping a younger lady's hand and banging down a corn dog the other. In a world without media bias this would be material for the like of Johnny Carson.

When evidence was found, the title for the article was almost as entertaining.

The author meant "braves" to be funny, so I will dispense with the obvious comments.
Did everyone at the fair have to pitch-in for the man's dinner?

Volunteer

Two of the last three weeks I've volunteered at a Habitat for Humanity build.
Framing work is fun for me, as that is what I did to earn through college.
Now, nearly 40 years later, the enjoyment is still there, but associated with an unending muscle ache.
Still love it and am honored with being asked to be a crew leader.
Wish I had the free time for it.

There were not many of us but we were a close collection of different people. In this group is a Physics PhD, a 3 Star General, a Colonel, about a half dozen professional engineers, my first wife and a murderer. I am the one with the cigarette, waiting for a train that wasn't coming.

PBR Street Gang

Back in my college days, we used to buy Pabst Blue Ribbon beer by the case in returnable bottles. Generally my two roommates and I went through about 3 cases a week. Filled a whole 5 gallons water bottle with caps in a single quarter. The long neck bottles had a label that included a small paper ribbon. The day of my first wedding, we tried to plan a visit to the Pabst brewery in central Georgia, it was vetoed, as it should have been.
This is cheap beer, but I still like it.

Weed Killer

For Christmas the bride gave me a subscription to Consumer Reports.
For the most part the magazine is informative even if it does lack being entertainment.

Here is the recipe for copy:

One (1) gallon vinegar

Two (2) cups Epsom salt

One quarter (1/4) cup Dawn dish washing soap

This consistency can be put in a typical spray bottle.

Spray it on, watch it die while saving money.
