I am beginning to think of John Stossel as the thinking man's Geraldo Rivera. He came to his current station through major network media and has arrived at conclusions, at least in a public way, that common sense observations are better than hyperbole pinned to individual events.
Since most of the major media sources sources are not FOX affiliates, we conservatives have come to reject the mainstream news almost entirely as Liberal Hyperbole. The statements of victims, pictures of events are offered as scientific proof of how current events are horrifically worse than historical experience. When involved scientists offer conclusions based on statistics the words are drowned out by media associates that are paid to proffer opinions that are exciting. The truth that things are usual, no matter how insensitive, is boring.
To me it is amazing; the legs that this global warming issue has. Scientists who initiated the "hockey stick" data trend have been proven to have been dishonest. They, by email evidence, manipulated raw data in a manner to comport with a hypothesis of impending disaster.
As an Industrial Engineer, I have been trained in depth on the application of statistical derivation, while the global warming hypothesis may be true, but so far the evidence does not support that.
To apply my own form unsupported conclusion, the liberal media is screaming because it sells advertising, the government is co-opting the issue because it sees an opportunity to fit taxes into the transactions of anybody purchasing energy.
Anyway, I usually enjoy Mr. Stossel's commentary.
