This Congress should be acting in a more conservative manner now that they have control of both Houses. They need to be stepping aside from fear based postures to stridently imposing limited government principles, literally rolling back the damage of the last 85 years, a 100 years if you look a the Wilson period. The vacuous crap that follows below is evidence the Congressional Republicans have little space between themselves and the Democrats.
Congress.org presents: MEGAVOTE for March 23, 2015 and Georgia's 13th Congressional District:
Recent Congressional Votes:
- Senate: Human Trafficking Restitution Fund - Cloture
- House: Volunteer Firefighters’ Healthcare – Passage
- House: EPA Rule-Making Guidelines – Passage
- House: NLRB Case Representation Procedures – Passage
Upcoming Congressional Bills:
- House: Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determining Reauthorization Act
- House: Tenant Income Verification Relief Act
- House: Department of Veterans Affairs Budget Planning Reform Act
Recent Senate Votes:
Human Trafficking Restitution Fund - Cloture Vote Rejected (56-42, 2 Not Voting)
The Senate rejected a motion to invoke cloture, and thus limiting debate, on the bill that would use fines and penalties against sex-trafficking perpetrators for more restitution and assistance funds for victims.
Sen. Johnny Isakson voted YES
Sen. David Perdue voted YES
It is a curious thing that politicians would suggest closing discussion on something that reeks of political correctness without real effect. Rejection of cloture seem the only course action. It is all bullshit anyway, there will probably be more cost in the organization of the handout than money reaching the victims anyway. Unless this reaches beyond United States borders.
Recent House Votes:
Volunteer Firefighters’ Healthcare – Passage Vote Passed (415-0, 17 Not Voting)
The House agreed to suspend the rules and pass the bill that would clarify that qualified services rendered as a bona fide volunteer to an eligible employer do not count as employee hours of service for the purposes of the employer mandate under the 2010 health care overhaul.
Rep. David Scott voted YES
Did the overarching panacea of the universal act need more tweaking? I cannot believe it. Only six years into the process and we are still passing more legislation to make it better. This crap is like the income tax code, layer upon layer of bullshit. Each layer more well-meaning than the last. Its restrictive crap, blow it up.
EPA Rule-Making Guidelines – Passage Vote Passed (241-175, 16 Not Voting)
The House passed a bill that would prohibit the EPA from proposing, finalizing or disseminating a rule or other covered action unless all scientific and technical information used to decide upon the rule is made available to the public so the research can be independently analyzed and reproduced.
Rep. David Scott voted NO
Give me one good reason that a politician would vote against this. All the intent says is, don't act unless there is scientific proof. Hell the global warming (oops climate change) issue has shown us that scientific truth is subject to the politics of the scientist. No a vote against this is dogmatic Democratic abeyance to environmental cabal that is more interested in deconstruction of society than healthy living.
NLRB Case Representation Procedures – Passage Vote Passed (232-186, 14 Not Voting)
The House passed a joint resolution that would provide for congressional disapproval and nullification of the National Labor Relations Board rule relating to case representation procedures.
Rep. David Scott voted NO
An elected member of the House of Representatives voting against Congressional oversight. Imagine that, voting against control. Perhaps the Democrats are happier with an independent bureaucracy answerable only to the President and major unions. David Scott this is an abdication of responsibility on your part. The NLRB represent workers and has overstepped is authority when it attempts to thwart business initiatives that are contrary to union objectives. The objectives of unions are seldom congruent with the rights of workers.
Upcoming Votes:
Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determining Reauthorization Act - H.R.360
The bill would reauthorize the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act of 1996, and for other purposes.
Housekeeping
Tenant Income Verification Relief Act - H.R.233
The bill would allow reviews of certain families' incomes every 3 years for purposes of determining eligibility for certain Federal assisted housing programs.
You can bet the Democrats don't vote for this. They want people on the the rolls, and dependent. Checking the recipients will be described as racist is distrusting. Racist no, distrusting hell yes.
Department of Veterans Affairs Budget Planning Reform Act - H.R.216
The bill would amend title 38, United States Code, to direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to submit to Congress a Future-Years Veterans Program and a quadrennial veterans review, to establish in the Department of Veterans Affairs a Chief Strategy Officer, and for other purposes.
There needs to be a lot more review in this system, coupled with privatization, continuous improvement principles and increased Congressional monetary support. Following through on health care for Veteran's is a committment, cull out the waste and treat people faster.
