Here Comes the Insult

Bless her heart.

• This is a precondition statement, aimed at softening the following derogatory comment.
• Example for the ladies "Bless her heart. She doesn't have enough sense to get out of the rain".
• Or for the masculine, "Bless his heart. He's so ugly he'd run a dog off a meat wagon."
• This is one that my wife and I seem to be saying a lot lately.
