Boring Government Post

Snotty comments will be obvious enough to people who can figure that sort of thing out.

Congress.org (congress.org) presents MEGAVOTE July 28, 2014 for Georgia's 13th Congressional District:

Recent Congressional Votes
  • Senate: Insourcing Incentives - Cloture
  • House: Higher Education Tax Credits - Passage
Upcoming Congressional Bills
  • House: 21st Century Endangered Species Transparency Act
Recent Senate Votes:
Insourcing Incentives - Cloture Vote Agreed to (93-7)
The Senate voted to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to the bill that would give businesses a tax credit for up to 20 percent of the expenses incurred to bring work done in foreign countries back into the United States, if the business also increases its number of full-time employees. It also would prohibit tax deductions for expenses incurred when moving jobs outside the U.S.
Sen. Saxby Chambliss voted YES
Sen. Johnny Isakson voted YES
As intelligent as my ego allows, had to look up a definition of what insourcing means. Naturally the government's definition does not exactly match. In the business world insourcing means to do work within a companies workforce, the opposite of outsourcing. According to this bill, insourcing means to hire within the country. Why can't these cheeky bastards just say that, could it be because there is already legislation designed to incentivize domestic hiring.

Recent House Votes:
Higher Education Tax Credits - Passage Vote Passed (227-187, 18 Not Voting)
The House passed a bill that would modify and make permanent the American Opportunity Tax Credit for tuition and higher-education expenses. It would eliminate the "above the line" higher-education tax deduction for qualified tuition and repeal the Hope Scholarship Tax Credit and the Lifetime Learning Tax Credit.
Rep. David Scott voted NO
In this case the Representative for the 14th looks to have made a vote in protection of his people.

Upcoming Votes:
21st Century Endangered Species Transparency Act - HR4315
The House will consider a bill to amend the Endangered Species Act of 1973 to require publication on the Internet of the basis for determinations that species are endangered species or threatened species.
Isn't this covered by the Freedom of Information Act? Perhaps some people are attempting to make public the process for nomination and maintenance.  We can assume that there are serious political forces seeking to suppress the fact that the Endangered Species Act is used as a tool to suppress economic growth.

Cruz Missile

Good job Senator Cruz, squeeze the weasels.  The White House appears erratic on this crisis at hand, seemingly intent on getting Israel to back off, applying pressure in unique ways, all while smiling and saying the correct supportive words.
  1. The FAA Ban
  2. Caving in to Iran on nukes
  3. Aid to Hamas
Senator Cruz Puts Hold on Nominees Until White House Answers Questions About Israel FAA Ban | FrontPage Magazine

If I were Benjamin Netanyahu, John Kerry would be invited to visit the desert for some sand pounding.

Kerry's Boys Cave

Yesterday I was watching an interview with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel. He was talking about being not being disappointed by impasses in Iran sanction negotiations. Saying that not deal is better than a bad deal.
The man spoke to soon, must have forgotten who his allies are...
U.S. to Give Iran Another $2.8 Billion, Concedes Enrichment

The report quotes the ambassador, who claims that there was some exchange or concessions...
Tehran has promised to move “in a more expeditious manner” to turn its stockpile of highly enriched nuclear materials into a less dangerous substance. Iran also will move some of this nuclear fuel into the Tehran Research Reactor under the extended agreement.
Concession my ass, that reads as a promise to do what they had already promised to do. A parallel to how the Arab negotiate, excluding Egypt, they are liars. Our State Department just rewarded them for being liars with murderous intent. Good job Kerry, you still the same asshole that cut in line in front of me at Logan Airport.
Considering today's FAA move with temporary termination of flights to Israel, these sanction concessions were probably an intentional, designed to apply pressure on Hamas's enemy.

Beretta Dumps Maryland After New Gun Laws

Corporate America can always vote with the jobs they have to offer.
I enjoy seeing this, not the first and will not be the last.
Beretta Dumps Maryland After New Gun Laws
Earlier today I had a thought while I was watching the news, the terrible accident in Ukraine.
Could the President issue an executive order that ban the purchase of surface to air missiles?
After all the the Russians could not be to blame, people are blameless, especially when they have more backbone than a jellyfish.

Send an Ambulance

A father walks into a room and finds an eighteen year old young man molesting his eleven year old son.
The father beats the molester savagely.  The molester, Raymond Frolander, has admitted to the molestation that apparently started when the victim was eight years old.
The child victim is reported to have kept silent on the abuse because the perpetrator intimidated with threats of terrible things.  The reading that I've done does not indicated that he father has been charged and comments from the Daytona Beach's Chief Chitwood suggest that the beating has been judged as justifiable...
'He's 11 years old, he should be running around outside and playing video games, not dealing with something like this.'
and
'just acting like a dad'
Rage that created by witnessing such an act on a loved one is understandable. I think it is justifiable what the father has done; though I have no idea what I would have done in the same circumstance.

Here is a link to the 911 call made by the father.....
Send an ambulance - he's going to need one'
Three years of abuse perpetrated on a pre-adolescent boy.  I hope he gets a lot of psychiatric help, there has got to be some damaging effect.  Good luck to that family.

Unsportsmanlike?

By way of an email from the Gatestone Institute, an Israeli reports makes an odd analogy. A key paragraph has drawn my attention.

There is something so unsportsmanlike about the Iron Dome missile shield. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a technological marvel. In seconds the system detects multiple rocket launches, assesses the rockets’ type, range and point of impact and, most crucially, whether it has a chance of hitting a built-up area and is thus worth while firing a 100,000-shekel Tamir missile to intercept it. The interception is even more incredible — a needle finding another needle in a haystack traveling at the speed of sound.
The Gazan in a bunker trying to kill me - Jerusalem & Babylon Israel News | Haaretz

The reporter does seem to understand the comment he has made, the defense system has been working very well. Few rockets are getting through and killing civilians.

Sportsmanship is about following customs, rules and fair play. It is Hamas that plays unfairly, constantly shooting from the cover of innocent Palestinians, sneaking through tunnels to murder and kidnap from stealth. I am not a veteran, and it is easy to see that war is about overwhelming the opponent, but the character of the group that calls itself Hamas is best described as a pack of pussies.

Terrorism Risk Insurance Act?

Notes to be added in blue italic font. Don't expect anything happy.

  • Senate: Donovan Nomination - Confirmation
  • House: Workforce Investment Re-authorization - Motion to Concur
  • House: Fiscal 2015 Energy-Water Appropriations - Passage
Upcoming Congressional Bills
  • Senate: Terrorism Risk Insurance Act
  • House: Fiscal 2015 Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act
Recent Senate Votes:
Castro Nomination - Confirmation; Vote Confirmed (71-26, 3 Not Voting)
The Senate voted to confirm President Barack Obama's nomination of Julian Castro of Texas to be secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Sen. Saxby Chambliss voted YES
Sen. Johnny Isakson voted YES
HUD sucker...

Donovan Nomination - Confirmation; Vote Confirmed (75-22, 3 Not Voting)
The Senate voted to confirm President Barack Obama's nomination of Shaun Donovan of New York to be director of the Office of Management and Budget.
Sen. Saxby Chambliss voted YES
Sen. Johnny Isakson voted YES
Another HUD sucker, Donovan is a Harvard man and an Obama Presidential campaign worker.

Recent House Votes:
Workforce Investment Re-authorization - Motion to Concur; Vote Passed (415-6, 11 Not Voting)
The House voted to concur in the Senate amendment to the bill that would overhaul and reauthorize workforce training programs and make changes in the makeup of advisory boards. It also would set out specific authorized appropriations, which would increase annually, for each program through fiscal 2020.
Rep. David Scott voted YES
The purpose of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 was

  • Individual eligibility
  • Screening, selection, assignment, and enrollment
  • Job Corps Centers
  • Program activities and continued services
  • Counseling and job placement
  • Support
  • Operating plan
  • Standards of conduct
  • Community participation
  • Advisory committees
  • Experimental, research, and demonstration projects.

Isn't that rich training for getting and keeping a job in industry given by folks that don't know a damned thing about anything regarding employment. The act is nothing new, started during the Clinton administration, persisting through the Bush administration. The only sure jobs generated by such a program are the ones in government. That type of employment, such as seen in most major municipalities, Atlanta for me, never have enough money to get anything done.

Fiscal 2015 Energy-Water Appropriations - Passage; Vote Passed (253-170, 9 Not Voting)
The House passed a bill that would provide $34.0 billion in fiscal 2015 to fund the Energy Department, the Army Corps of Engineers, the Interior Department's Bureau of Reclamation and several regional water and power authorities.
Rep. David Scott voted NO
This vote affects my business directly, negatively.

Upcoming Votes:
Terrorism Risk Insurance Act - S2244
The Senate will vote on a bill that would extend the termination date of the Terrorism Insurance Program established under the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act of 2002.
Wikipedia says.....
The Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA) is a United States federal law signed into law by President George W. Bush on November 26, 2002. The Act created a federal "backstop" for insurance claims related to acts of terrorism. The Act "provides for a transparent system of shared public and private compensation for insured losses resulting from acts of terrorism."The Act was originally set to expire December 31, 2005, was extended for two years in December 2005, and was extended again on December 26, 2007. The current law, under the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Reauthorization Act, is set to expire on December 31, 2014.
Fiscal 2015 Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act - HR5016
The House will vote on a bill making appropriations for financial services and general government for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2015.
Can't let that lapse, need to be able to write checks and sell bonds.

Now ICE Has Him

Last night while exercising on the elliptical at Gold's Gym, CNN was showing an interview with this man for an extended period. He kept shaking his head up and down apparently in agreement with the questions being asked by the news anchor. Behind him were several people, some of whom were wearing shirts with a label suggesting that they too were illegal aliens. Beneath the news scroll was a title that in bold print proclaimed that the interviewee was a Pulitzer Prize winning author.

Today I see in the news that this man, Jose Antonio Vargas, has been detained by ICE officials.  It seems that he was taunting conservatives with Tweets telling of how he called ICE and told them of his illegal presence and mugging for photographs next to ICE vehicle.

Illegal Alien Journalist Who Mocked Border Laws and Dared ICE to Take Him Into Custody is Taken Into Custody by ICE

Reading the comments in the above found a link that suggested that the state of Washington revoked his driver's licence three years ago.

Local News | State DOL cancels driver's license of reporter in country illegally | Seattle Times Newspaper

To me this begs the question, why, after travelling with false identification documents, using false social security numbers, both illegal to regular citizens, is this man still in our country?

It seems like ICE officials did not enjoy having been the object of parody.  How serious they are we will learn in the near future.  The proper route should be, conviction for laws broken, incarceration, followed with deportation.

We'll see how smug he is after being somebody's girlfriend for a few months.

Scuttle Diplomacy

President Nixon and his Secretary of State Henry Kissinger began the practice coined as shuttle diplomacy. This policy worked well internationally for a domestically besieged President, yielding entrance to China, the end of the Vietnam War, the first SALT treaty and improvement of relations in the middle east. Now we have a president whose best skill seems to be irrationally blaming someone else and then scuttling off to a comfortable resort. His international policies are ridiculed all over the world for their ineffectiveness, his domestic policies have hampered economic growth that is long overdue.
President G. W. Bush was crucified in the media, accused of being indifferent to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, something that was patently dishonest blame mongering for an act of god.  This situation currently in the southern border with Mexico is man-made.  For his refusal to engage on the illegal immigration issue the President gets a pass from the media allowing Democratic operatives to deflect responsibility onto a flawed immigration law of 2008, that at this point is more outdated than wrong. The President gets a pass on the behavior that demonstrates to Americans citizens and potential wetbacks (federal terminology not mine) that deportations will be avoided by refusal to support enforcement. The President and the Senate also get a pass from the media with regards to immigration reform which the failure of which is blamed on the house, ignoring the fact the the legislation proposed by the Senate includes no cooperative creation, the legislation is simply a poison pill created to develop a media wedge issue, never was or is a workable solution.
Six years ago there was decent agreement on the issue. Americans said, get the shit at the border taken care of and then we'll address amnesty, green cards or whatever.  The border is still a god damned mess and the Democrats are back at the door asking for us to ignore promises already made.
Mexico apparently does not enforce its border control on either the top of the bottom of the country, except when Americans are carrying weapons not intended for the drug distribution system. The Federal executive branch makes its intentions obvious by refusing to enforce laws by created by Congress. The Executive, DHS and DOJ give the impression that they welcome all Hispanic immigrants. The Federal leadership is dominated by the Democratically controlled Executive branch and abetted by the Democratic Senate. Those Democrats in power see illegal immigrants as potential voters.  American citizens, Democrat and Republican voters alike, see the Federal government as playing games with the rules that they created to appease the citizens, a large portion of that group now see that manipulation as unlawful refusal to honor oaths of office.
Obama keeps running from the problem, Michael Barone hits it on the nose.

I Cannot Bear It

Email from the White House are nothing more than spam. This  was titled "The Bear is loose (again)"
Hi, all --
Going all the way back to the early days of the campaign, whenever President Obama shook off his schedule and busted out of the bubble, we would say "The Bear is loose."
Lately, the Bear has been loose a lot -- and this week will be no different.
The President is hitting the road on a three-day swing to Colorado and Texas, where he will meet with Americans who've written him letters and whose stories -- their challenges and successes -- resonate with folks from across the country.
So if you want to stay in the loop about what President Obama is up to and where he's traveling, sign up to get updates.
While congressional Republicans continue to block votes on important issues like equal pay and the minimum wage and undertake taxpayer-funded political stunts like Speaker Boehner's plan to sue the President for doing his job, the President will continue to do everything in his power -- with and without Congress -- to create economic opportunity for all Americans.
The day after the State of the Union, a woman named Alex received a raise from her boss, allowing her to pay rent and afford groceries without worry. Earlier this year, Alex wrote the President to say "thank you."
Tonight, the President will deliver his reply in person when he meets Alex for dinner in Denver. And tomorrow, she’ll introduce the President before his remarks in Denver.
Make sure you get updates about what President Obama is up to this summer.
On Thursday in Austin, TX, the President will highlight the actions his Administration has taken -- more than 40 since January -- to benefit hardworking Americans. From helping to create new manufacturing jobs, to expanding apprenticeships and job training, and from making student loan payments more affordable, to cutting carbon pollution, the President's used his pen and phone on behalf of folks all across the country.
We've come a long way since President Obama took office. Thanks to the grit and resilience of the American people, we've made progress and there's reason to be optimistic. Last week, our latest jobs report showed that we've undergone the fastest job growth in the United States in the first half of the year since 1999, with five consecutive months of job growth over 200,000. Yet, we know there’s still much more to do.
The President will continue to do his part -- focusing on growing our economy from the middle out, not the top down. And he'll continue to urge Republicans in Congress to join him in working for the folks he hears from every day -- Americans like Alex, whom the leaders in Washington were sent to serve.
Thanks,
Dan
Dan Pfeiffer
Senior Advisor
The White House
When some person suggests that this President is breaking the schedule and running around the country ad hoc, everybody and I mean every single person knows that that is a dishonest statement. There is little doubt in my mind that toilet breaks are anticipated in the daily schedule. This is not a slap at the President only the weak minded sycophants that write his press releases.
For the rest of it, such as calling the lawsuits a stunt, is merely a reflection of the leadership's disdain for the rule of law that flows from the Constitution. President Obama considers himself to be omnipotent.  Problem is, that whenever he meets a opposing force of serious resolve, his omnipotence is eviscerated. No I do not mean the Republican House of Representatives.

Gaseous Denial

If any thoughts spring to mind, I'll let you know.  My main thought for the entry is that the Democrats are stupid on energy, everybody sees it and the only people comfortable with the policies are the environmentals.

Congress.org presents: MEGAVOTE June 30, 2014, for Georgia's 13th Congressional District.

Recent Congressional Votes
  • Senate: Workforce Training Reauthorization - Passage
  • House: CFTC Reauthorization - Passage
  • House: Trans-National Pipelines - Passage
  • House: Liquefied Natural Gas Exports - Passage
  • House: Oil and Gas Exploration - Passage
Both chambers are in recess until the week of July 7.
Reading this a little bit late, they are already back in session. To bad...
Recent Senate Votes:
Workforce Training Re-authorization, Vote Passed (95-3, 2 Not Voting)
The Senate passed a bill that would overhaul and reauthorize workforce training programs and make changes in the makeup of advisory boards. It also would set out specific authorized appropriations, which would increase annually, for each program through fiscal 2020.
Sen. Saxby Chambliss voted YES
Sen. Johnny Isakson voted YES
We care, just in time for the next election, with the money of working taxpayers.
Recent House Votes:
CFTC Re-authorization, Vote Passed (265-144, 22 Not Voting)
The House passed a bill that would reauthorize the Commodity Futures Trading Commission through 2018 and would largely exempt end users or non-financial companies that use derivatives to hedge risks from tough rules on derivatives under the 2010 financial regulatory overhaul known as Dodd-Frank.
Rep. David Scott voted YES
I do not trust a thing related to either Dodd-Frank or voted for by David Scott.
Trans-National Pipelines, Vote Passed (238-173, 20 Not Voting)
The House passed a bill that would require future oil and gas pipeline projects and power lines that cross international borders to be reviewed by the State or Energy secretary within 120 days of the environmental review, unless the agency finds the project is not in the public interest of the United States. It would eliminate the current system created by executive orders under which a presidential permit must be issued.
Rep. David Scott voted NO
Apparently out representative wants to protect the President's obstructive catering to the environmental sect. It is sort of like being a bodyguard for Michael Jackson, some innocent person is going to fucked, in this case lots of innocent people.
Liquefied Natural Gas Exports, Vote Passed (266-150, 16 Not Voting)
The House passed a bill that would require the Energy Department to expedite decisions on applications to export liquefied natural gas. It would require that all applications publicly disclose the specific nation or nations that would receive the proposed export of liquefied natural gas.
Rep. David Scott voted NO
The President is wrong to obstruct gas exportation.  In this he is abetting Russia's pressure on Europe and notably Ukraine. David Scott for all his liberal posturing is supporting war in Europe.
Oil and Gas Exploration, Vote Passed (229-185, 18 Not Voting)
The House passed a bill that would establish a five-year program for oil and gas leasing. The bill would double the cap for offshore oil and gas revenue sharing to $1 billion and require at least 25 percent of eligible federal land be made available each year to lease for oil and gas exploration.
Rep. David Scott voted NO
I just don't understand the actions of my congressman, nor the position of the Democrats as a whole on this subject. Economics drives energy exploration and distribution, all of their actions just make the resources cast more. The result is inevitable.

The Problem With The World Cup

Is that they play soccer.
Two days ago the television was besieged with soccer.
Yesterday the United States team lost to Belgium.
Today it is old news.

The wave of soccer has crashed into the beach of America where the sports choices are more abundant and a lot of people don't give a shit about soccer.
