Recent House Votes:
Workforce Investment Re-authorization - Motion to Concur; Vote Passed (415-6, 11 Not Voting)
The House voted to concur in the Senate amendment to the bill that would overhaul and reauthorize workforce training programs and make changes in the makeup of advisory boards. It also would set out specific authorized appropriations, which would increase annually, for each program through fiscal 2020.
Rep. David Scott voted YES
The purpose of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 was
- Individual eligibility
- Screening, selection, assignment, and enrollment
- Job Corps Centers
- Program activities and continued services
- Counseling and job placement
- Support
- Operating plan
- Standards of conduct
- Community participation
- Advisory committees
- Experimental, research, and demonstration projects.
Isn't that rich training for getting and keeping a job in industry given by folks that don't know a damned thing about anything regarding employment. The act is nothing new, started during the Clinton administration, persisting through the Bush administration. The only sure jobs generated by such a program are the ones in government. That type of employment, such as seen in most major municipalities, Atlanta for me, never have enough money to get anything done.
Fiscal 2015 Energy-Water Appropriations - Passage; Vote Passed (253-170, 9 Not Voting)
The House passed a bill that would provide $34.0 billion in fiscal 2015 to fund the Energy Department, the Army Corps of Engineers, the Interior Department's Bureau of Reclamation and several regional water and power authorities.
Rep. David Scott voted NO
This vote affects my business directly, negatively.
Upcoming Votes:
Terrorism Risk Insurance Act - S2244
The Senate will vote on a bill that would extend the termination date of the Terrorism Insurance Program established under the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act of 2002.
Wikipedia says.....

The Act "provides for a transparent system of shared public and private compensation for insured losses resulting from acts of terrorism."The Act was originally set to expire December 31, 2005, was extended for two years in December 2005, and was extended again on December 26, 2007. The current law, under the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Reauthorization Act, is set to expire on December 31, 2014.Fiscal 2015 Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act - HR5016
