The Senate is not in session this week.
Music to my eyes and ears.

Recent Senate Votes:
King Nomination – Confirmation, Vote Confirmed (49-40, 11 Not Voting)
The Senate confirmed the nomination of John B. King, Jr. to be secretary of Education.
Sen. Johnny Isakson voted NO
Sen. David Perdue voted NO
These days, if the Senators vote in a "conservative approved" manner, it might only mean that they have enough political cover from the Majority Leader to make an appearance of giving a shit about what the voters want. In this case what the voters want is for the Federal government to remove themselves from public education, in that reducing the amount of taxes it collects as a means of redistribution. So clean up the thought, get rid of the Department of Education, all that it has ever accomplished is to raise the cost of an education that is declining in value.

Genetically Modified Organism Food Labeling – Cloture, Vote Rejected (48-49, 3 Not Voting)
The Senate rejected a McConnell, R-Ky., motion to invoke cloture on the motion to concur in the House message to an unrelated bill (S 764) with a Senate amendment containing the genetically modified organism food labeling measure. The amendment would have blocked state and local labeling requirements for genetically engineered food and seeds. It also would have required the Agriculture Department to establish a national voluntary labeling standard for bioengineered foods, and later would have required the department to issue a mandatory standard if there is not at least "70 percent substantial participation" in voluntary labeling. Sixty votes were required to invoke cloture.
Sen. Johnny Isakson voted YES
Sen. David Perdue voted YES
Here we have Senators voting on whether or not to continue discussion on rules for labeling bio-engineered foods. Notice in the description that they are deciding on whether or not the states can impose their own rules.  Tell more where in the Constitution it sales that the Federal government can control food labeling? The Commerce clause? That perversion has been used in so many different ways now that it has no meaning at all. If anything is clear in the Constitution , it is that uncovered legal issues are reserved for the states. This shit is just wrong all over. In the end cloture was not invoked, so the assholes will continue to discuss the issues that are none of of its business anyway.  In the end the rules will be written by some agri-business lobbyist anyway.

Recent House Votes:
Air Pollution – Passage Vote Passed (231-183, 19 Not Voting)
The measure establishes separate standards under which electricity-generating power plants that primarily use waste coal as a fuel source could comply with EPA's Cross-State Air Pollution Rule and the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) Rule, by blocking reductions in emissions allowances for sulfur dioxide as it relates to the rule and by setting an alternative standard for sulfur dioxide under the rule.
Rep. David Scott voted NO
Having said this before, Plant Bowen in Georgia is one of the greatest coal fired electric plant s in the world. This and other plants in my state are having to convert to natural gas, which momentarily is a low priced energy source. What is best for the system is a multiple energy sourced platform. But the governments wonks i their wisdom have been trotting down dickhead's path to oblivious oblivion, removing coal from the equation. Liberal global warming bullshit meets liberal government expansive control, result is more cost for the consumer, and less food on the table for workers in coal producing states.

Small Business Broadband Deployment – Passage Vote Passed (411-0, 22 Not Voting)
The bill exempts, for a period of five years after enactment, small-business broadband Internet access providers that have 250,000 or fewer subscribers from the enhanced disclosure requirements of the Federal Communications Commission 2015 net neutrality rule.
Rep. David Scott voted YES
The net neutrality rule is the construct of people who wish to dumb down the populace and feed them the bullshit they have to offer. That they even voted on delaying the reporting aspects suggests to me that there is things in there that they hope to deflect until an election in the unknown future. In the end, somebody is going to get the strong arm of the law telling you what you cannot say.

Authorize House Amicus Brief for Supreme Court Immigration Case– AdoptionVote Passed (234-186, 14 Not Voting)
The measure authorizes the Speaker of the House to file as amicus curiae in the Supreme Court on behalf of the House of Representatives regarding the case United States, et al. v. Texas, et al., in support of the position that the Obama administration in that immigration case acted in a manner that is inconsistent with its duties under the Constitution and laws of the United States.
Rep. David Scott voted NO
I am soo... proud, my Congressman voted to uphold the President's illegal behavior, behavior that I might add is already in direct conflict with the oath of office taken, twice.

Upcoming Votes:
Standard Merger and Acquisition Reviews - HR2745
The measure would harmonize the standards in antitrust cases that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Justice Department must meet before seeking a preliminary injunction against a proposed transaction. It also would require the FTC to resolve such cases through the federal courts rather than through administrative action.
Harmonize, ha!
