Windstorm

High winds, possibly a tornado hit Atlanta last night after midnight. Because the CNN Center was hit, this has become national news. A turn from the standard, because usually in the south the press runs straight to the toothless 40 year old grandmother wandering around the remains of a battered trailer home. It was fun to watch the male CNN co-anchor, obviously from New York, probably gay, holding up a piece of sheet rock the fell inside the studio. This boy had never seen anything like this back home, his own personal Hurricane Katrina.
The bride and were interested in what landmarks were damaged and on what streets. The damage was south of the Georgia Tech campus by a mile or two. What was striking was that we did not recognize any of the street names. The damned city government has been methodically changing the names to honor civil rights activists. The first to go were the ones named for Confederate generals, an understandable action given their foundation. Unfortunately the city has run out of bona-fide activists and now they are naming roads for folks that we've never heard of.
Not to worry, 50 years from now, the names will have special meaning to the Hispanic citizens. All roads lead will lead to some crappy restaurant named Mexico Lindo.
