Yesterday morning, I saw a post on my Facebook, by a 18 year old young man stating that compared to his mother that had raised three sons, without the help of a father, Caitlyn Jenner had no rightful claim on being woman of the year. This young man, for whom I have great respect, has proper perspective. He sees a woman who struggles on behalf of others getting little recognition while a man receives false acclaim and spends his hours fussing over how his children are going to have to deal with it. One parent sacrifices for her children, another parent sacrifices upon his children.
It sees that many people agree, at least and the places where I read.
No picture of the revised man will be shown, after all, that is exactly what what he desires, attention.
Bruce Jenner has the right to do what he wants with his body, as long as he doesn't endanger others or expect the public to pay for it, I am fine with it. His choice should not to be held out as a symbol of achievement, when it is in reality, an expression of mental illness. The condition Mr. Jenner has is real, no doubt the source of great mental anguish, in no way is this trivial
What he is not, is a woman, he is a man altered to look like a woman.
Simple as that.
Giving the man an award for being Woman of the Year, is akin to giving a freshly elected politician the Nobel Peace Prize before having served in elected role. These are better characterized as political statements than awards.
In the end they have trivialized their own dominion.
Not unlike Mr. Jenner has done to himself.
For this Glamour Magazine wind the long withheld Davis Cup aka Annus Rectum Award, aka AR Award.
