Rasmussen poll shows that only 1 in 4 citizens believe that Russia will honor their obligation in the new START Treaty. This much I believe, that the treaty is crap, it seems to be widely believed that the treaty restricts US caps while Russian stockpiles are already under capacity, plus there is no substantive verification. Reagan wouldn't have signed it. Verify, verify, verify! The Democrats always had the votes to pass this thing, I think mainly because in the lame duck, the Republicans were picking their fights. The way things smell right now the Senate is going to continue to piss off the Tea Party core, because of the extremes of both parties, the moderates have a lot of power. Moderates, by definition think the compromise to the middle is best. Conservatives see the self-styled moderates as liberals. A parallel to the current Senate moderates is the Independent voters and their relationship to the main parties.
